At the local do it yourself car wash...

Well I was at the local "do it yourself" car wash...I go up there quite a few times to just rinse my car off and sometimes to use the high pressure wash to get bird poop off when I dont have time to fully wash my car.

Well today I was up there and I just sprayed down my car to get a few areas of bird poop off and to get alot of the polland off.

I smell engine degreaser and 2 guys one in the stall is spraying engine degreaser all over his tahoe z71 and the other guy behind him in a dodge truck spraying engine degreaser all over his paint.

So im talking to the guy that basically owns/works there and he says they do it all the time. Sounds like it would definately harm/strip wax etc.

What do you guys think?

Will strip the wax almost immediately, about 95% of it in a single application, though a tiny amount remains.
Paint damage? It will really clean the paint, so streak it. For one of our processes we use a degreaser/APC at 1:5 light app, wipe and immediate rinse. I don't recommend it.

Yeah I was going to say something to the guy but after the guy said that they do it all the time I was just surprised that is exactly what I said is that it would eat up all the wax and stuff because I thought that DAWN isnt even as harsh as that.

Also the guy up there said they buy like 4 bottles and just soak them down with the degreaser not even just a little bit....plus that engine bright degreaser or whoever makes it smells really bad.

lol thats kinda funny, his paint will look like cra very soon. It remiends me of when i was srpaying off my car at a coin wash (just water) a guy pulls in in a brand new xkr, it was a black hard top looked amazing (i love jags) and so im like ok this is weird, so he goes to a stall and starts to wash of his car, when it comes to the soap part he uses tire cleaner and then the foam brush they have. He then procedes to wash it off with a beach towel. so i go over to talk to him and and i tell him i can do a nice job for a resable price (200 for a full detail, 100 for hand wash, polish, wax) and he calls me an idiot tell me im like the people at the dealership and know nothing. I just laughed at him, im sure ill see him in a few months looking for help lol..

sorry to rant just reminded., i thought they were both funny and similar
