So I got home from school today and I was cleaning up my car a little bit and my mom yells down "Have I brought down the clean towels yet?" And I asked her if she cleaned the "brightcolored ones" (Microfiber) seperatly from the regular bath towels, and she says "No, I didn't think it would matter"

:nono

AHHHH

Well she used liquid soap on them, but I was wondering if there is anything I can do to "save" the Microfiber towels, and if not, should I just use them for engine cleaning, and other non-paint type things?

I wash my towels with liquid soap, but i wash them seperatly. They are still fine.

Dont run them in the dryer though, unless it is on delicate.

The worse thing that would have happened is that they picked up a ton of lint from the regular towels. That is unless she used bleach and/or fabric softener on them.

In the very early days of MF I accidentally washed one with some cotton towels and it picked up a ton of lint. The towel in question was dark blue, so the lint was pretty hard to miss. I havenâ€â„¢t used it for too much since then, but keep it around as a grunge towel.

If you can get the lint off them you should be OK, if not then you have a new set of towels for engine, tire, and wheel well use. If fabric softener was used Iâ€â„¢m not sure of the long-term problems it may cause, but Iâ€â„¢d think a rewash with some Micro-Restore would revive them.

What happened to you is why I personally wash my own MFâ€â„¢s, and then hang around to make sure no one else throws them in the dryer with a softener sheet.

I usually wash them myself.... But my mom did it for me this time :doh

Hmmmm , I missed something. The MF towels I have from Costco are pretty robust, I do soak them in a colloidal cleaner, but I wash them in regular detergent and dry them as I would any other towel. I have noticed nothing other than after a few washings, some fading. I do wash them with other towels, but in honesty have noticed no difference in the way they buff, etc Since they are inexpensive, I dont really stress over them, and only discard them if oil gets on them..... the one thing I fear... oily contamination. I have never had a MF deteriorate on me. They might not look as pretty, but they do the job.

I just washed mine last night in liquid dish washing soap and Oxyclean. I just made sure there was no softener residue in the washer. I always dry with the washer/dryer set to delicate. I don't dry them bone dry, usually about 60 minutes for the full size towels.
