Applying wax with your hands

I cleaned/conditioned my leather seats/doors with PBs leather stuff, using my hands, and i realized how much i liked using my hands to apply the product.

A few days later I saw a video of a guy in the UK applying swissvax to a Lambo Murci with his bare hands (not the guy that charges like 10 grand per detail, he uses the uber expensive Zymol wax. Different guy).

Im going to be adding 2 coats of Nattys Blue over my EX-P later today, and was wondering if it would be possible to apply with my hands.:rockon

I believe the idea behind the guy waxing with his hands is that the heat in your hands melts the wax and then you apply it. With that being said, you can apply any product with your hands...but would you really want to?:D

yes applying leather stuff by hand is a good idea and it really helps to get it into all the crevices too...:)

i've had people write to me about applying natty's by hand, but if you do remember to try and get it real thin, which is why quite a few people have been experimenting with pc application. go ahead and try, :rockon the worst that could happen is you spead it a bit thick and have to use a QD to help remove it;)

don't try to lick your fingers after or during either :bonk: lol. Looking forward to seeing how it goes. Good luck :bigups

alright, that didnt work at all. i just ended up with smudged/smeared hand and finerprints all over my hood - there is practically no spreadability when applying by hand. its also a pain trying to wash your hands afterwards. it was about 90 degrees outside, and the wax melted into a liquid in my hands immediately, but just wouldnt spread on the surface of the paint. oh wells.

it would be nice to be able to apply a wax by hand though, if the product actually spread it seems like it would be a very effective/efficient method of application.

You can spread Victoria's wax by hand.I put on several coats this way.:passout:

I'm afraid of those solvents used in wax being absorbed into the body :surrender ...

Thanks for posting your findings. I guess you just have to have a wax that is designed to be worked in by hand to have any success.

I think you would only be able to use your finger tips, not your palm :hmmm: I've done some small areas with my finger tips, but never a whole panel:)

hmm....that may work, but the small area that fingertips could cover would probably make the whole process take way longer than just using an applicator.

i guess fingertips could come in handy for small areas that you couldnt get your whole hand + an applicator to....although i cant really say ive ever seen an area like that before, but im sure there are some.

ive applied nattys blue by hand before. worked well for me but it was also borderline too cold to be waxing in the first place. not my favorite way of doing it but you do what you gotta do:bigups

Next time I wax with Natty's I'll go the barehand route.
Be nice Mr. Poorboy!:passout:
