hey guys i will be using ssr2.5 by hand this weekend using the polishin' pal. i am planning on using this after claying and z-pc. could this take the place of z-pc? and has anyone had any luck applying this by hand?

don't do it. chances are, the speed at which your hand will be moving will def not generate enough heat to break down the abrasives. you're going to be left with alot of bad swirls

well seeing i dont have a pc and a big car show to go to sunday, what are my options? could i go to lowes, buy a pc, then put a mf bonnet over it? do any stores sell pads?

i figured i would have luck applying the 2.5 using the polish' pal with the organge cutting. should i just try using the z-pc with the orange cutting instead.

If you have a car show on sunday I'd start now.. That's a LOT of polishing by hand.. not knowing what kinda of color you have doesn't help.. but 2.5 would need to be fallowed up but the Z-pc and a MF bon isn't made to be used with either product so you would just be destorying yor finish. I would post your location and see if anyone could help you. If all else fails just wax her and be happy forget the polish for now you don't have the time or machine to do it right.

I'm in Bucks County PA. Holland, I see you're in Hartford. I go to school at U of Hartford. Maybe I finally found a place to wash the car  anyhow, i was planning on washing tonight so to save time...maybe ill just go buy a PC package this week... hmmmm

edit

car is a mazda rx-8. titanium gray

I always recommend to start with SSR2 when using the SSR line by hand and then go to Polish With Carnauba next.

I guess we need to see what you have on heand then we can give you advise.. because your not getting anything via mail right now and OTC is your option if you don't have it.

Also getting a PC today will not do you much because unless you have a place to get pads(HD,Lowes will not have pads) you have a machine with the Crappy pad it came with(DON"T EVER USE)

In hartford i know XXtuning had the megs PC and backing pads and plate but your not here so it doesn't help..also I would have lent you mine ..

anyways the only thing you might be able to do is go to a auto paint store they might have some stuff or might not..

I hope Scottwax doesnt get mad at me, but here is something he said about using Meg. Swirl Remover. He used to polish out all his cars by hand for years.

Scottwax said:
Use a terry cloth towel, folded into 1/8ths size to form a thick pad and so you can apply even pressure. Use moderate pressure, enough to build up some warmth on the towel and work the product into the paint until it looks nearly clear and dry, then wipe off immediately. Refold the towel and move on to the next section.

This goes for Swirl Free Polish and DACP also.

Wheres the SSR2.5? Do you have any other PBs products? if so, Bob gave you good adivce. The scratch X and #9 are also possibilites but #9 has a lot of fillers. Can't comment on Zaino- I'm a non user of that stuff.

The SSR2.5 is arriving tomo. I just washed the car so it should save tomorrow. I'm going to do the interior tonight. Also, my car is sitting in a garage with an alley behind. It will get some dust on it tonight. I have a Cali-duster. Is that what I should use to take the dust off tomorrow morning?

I normally wouldn't recomend using the car duster. Chances are you may mar the paint. I agree w/ holland though. Use the Zaino products that you already have. You're not going to have enough time to polish out the defects before the show. Not to mention obtain the necessary equipment to do so.

ok so it looks like i may be pending some money for a PC this week if nothing happens tomorrow. what do you recommend i get? the pc 7424 or 7336? should i buy a kit from AG with pads? will the SSR2.5 be goood for swirl removal? what products do you recommend?

this just occured to me. i can get an adapter to use the 4" pads i have currently to use on my power drill. good idea? or not
