Apply Wax/Glaze by buffer... wipe off?

So this would be my 1st real time useing a Buffer to apply wax and glaze.... Now, Do you wipe off the wax with a Microfiber Towel? or do you buff it out with the buffer? I know its a very noobie like question but I had to ask. :2thumbs:

Also same goes for when I apply Polishes, ScratchX, Ultimate Compound... do I wipe off with a clean Microfiber towel? or buff it out with the buffer?

Thanks!

If you have MF bonnets for your buffer you can use that. But IME you'll still have to do a quickie follow up by hand to get the last 5%.

IMO there are very few abrasive products that lend themselves to by-machine buff-off. Again, you need to do it with a MF bonnet, and with *most* such products you need to buff them off before they dry so the whole thing gets unweildy.

Unless you're using 1Z Paint Polish or something like that (1Z is the only line I can think of where this would be a good idea), buff off the residue by hand.

DO NOT let Meguiar's abrasive products dry before you buff them off.

no need to really use a machine for wax or anything that doesnt have abrasives IMO. just put it on by hand...its less trouble.

I find its a whole lot easier to apply by machine, especially wax on a well polished surface. By hand, the wax doesn't even seem to stick, the machine lays down a nice thin coat.

ok sounds good..

Apply by buffer... remove by hand..

MEguiars compound/ ScratchX don't let it dry..

pretty simple. :-)

I luv to use my Flex orbital to apply wax, the wax tin last about 10 times longer than if applying by hand, it also lays down a nice uniform coat.

I like to dampen my Black foam applicator pad and machine buff in the wax at a slow speed. I then thouroughly hand buff it to a shine, wait about 3-4 hours for the wax to fully cure, then I machine buff it out again at a high speed with a micro bonnett. Super Clear and Hard shine for me. :waxing:

You must wait for the wax to fully cure before your final machine buff or you will end up buffing most of it off the paint. Also don't machine buff off the fresh wax it will take most of it off.

I am one of the few who believes along with Zymol & Top of The Line car products, that MF towels take too much of the wax off of the paint. I have done many tests and found that I got a richer, thicker wax coating with non micro fiber products. My favorites are the Zymol Microwipes, pricey but they work very well and leave all the wax bonded to the paint.

I am a car appearance phanatic and spend lots of money on my wax $$$. I want to make damn sure it is all sticking to the paint. Most people just go through the regular routine, but I want the best possible finish. :buffing:

Thanks for the input Lazzman.

So for MEgs Gold Class Liquid wax.. I buff it on with my Buffer then let it cure/dry(couple hours?) then use the bonnett or by hand to wipe off... coorrect?

What about the Show Car Glaze.. #7.. do I wait for it to cure/dry? how long?

thanks

No need to wait that long. As soon as it'll pass the "finger swipe test" it's ready to buff off.

Search out Mike Phillips's how-to on #7. It's not something that can be explained in a short sentence or two and Mike explained it perfectly.

#7 needs to be wiped off right away. As posted above, Mike P is probably the best at expaining how to use it. Since your car is so new I really don't think you will benifit from using it though.
