Applicator Pad Questions

I just did a full detail of my car. Started out with a wash using the two bucket method, then a coat scratch X, followed by the mequiars 3 step system, and finally an extra coat of mequiars carnuba paste wax. However, it seemed that while doing the scratch X i was actually causing swirls, not eliminating them. I used mequiars foam applicator pads to apply the products and mequiars mircofiber towels to wipe them off. Any possible things i could be doing wrong or different products i should use? Maybe microfiber applicator pads?

You werent using scratchx correctly, you cannot "coat" scratch removers.

You also dont "coat" megs step 1 or 2.

You probably created micro-marring from not breaking down scratchx.

Also make sure you did a good job washing your car off. Otherwise you can pick up contaminates on the foam pad. Just one grain of sand can cause a lot of damage.

Coupe is probably right. I don't think you worked the ScratchX in long enough. How long did you use the Scratch on each panel? Scratch X has to be worked into the paint, and should take a few minutes per section.

Its always a dead giveaway when people say "coats".

I also wouldnt doubt you were not careful keeping your applicator and towels clean. Ive seen people put their towels and applicators right on the ground, then pick them back up and keep using them.

I dont think that keeping the towel clean or the washing the car off enough was a problem cause i made sure to do a good job with that

How can i tell when the scratch X is completely worked in, yes i guess that i did not use it correctly. How should i apply meg 1 and 2 and the scratch X? It says to use an applicator pad and mircofiber towel.
