Apples to Apples Comparison Charts

I am a newbie amatuer detailer struggling to maintain my rides. I come form a commercial cleaning background distributing commerical floor finishes and janitorial products. It seems to me that the pro's on this board bring a huge amout of expertise to the board and I thank you all for your prompt assistance and detailed responses to my questions.

In my paying job, we have an apples to apples comparison chart. It was delevoped by professionals who have used different product across many manufacturers and they compare attributes and classify them on a chart so you can see that product A from Manufacturer 1 is equal to Product X from Manufacturer Y.

We also use colored floor pads to strip, clean and burnish floors. Black being roughest and White softest. There are alot of colors inbetween.

It would be great if there was a list of:

1. Compounds Heavy to light by manufacturer

2. Pads Heavy cut to fine polish top to bottom by manufacturer

3. Waxes by durability

4. Waxes by ease of use

5. Waxes by appearance

6. Sealants Durability

7. Sealant Ease of use

8. Sealant Durability

9. Glass Cleaners best to worst

We would rely on the unbiased opinions of the pro's and the weekend worriors who have used several brands and have the reference form experience. I realize some of this is subjective but if you get enough people to weigh in it should be a great start.

It would have saved me hours on the net researching products and money on all the stuff I bought, tried and did not love enought to continue with. I am searching for the best protection/appearance I can find. I keep getting closer but I am not there yet. I may never get there I guess.

Thanks,

i agree this would b a great idea... but the problem is things will always be biased.

two quick examples:

glass cleaners. its not only what u use, but HOW u use it. i love stoner's invisi glass used with newspaper. others like glass cleaners with glass microfibers. others like cleaners with paper towels. what's the best if we all like different methods?

number two: waxes. with the huge price difference in some of them, it's really hard to compare them. i can't compare my s2000 to someone's 911 turbo. u can't compare a 911 to a veyron. u can try....but somewhere someone's going to say "i'd rather have a 911 turbo than a veyron and use the left over cash on X Y Z".

i LOVE lusso oro. i really LOVE supernatural. but look at the difference in price. and if i only used SN in the cooler fall days, but used lusso during the hot summer, how does that affect the shine/ease of use/durability of the product?

like others will surely comment - it comes down to 90% prep. products make little difference to a well prepped vehicle.

what i'd like to see (as only a semi-pro myself), is a database of reviews and pic's of how products handle, look, and hold up. basically...we all need to contribute to the autopia database more in reviews!
