anything I can do about a spot of clearcoat failure?

I have a spot on my Talon in between the glass on the hatch and the spoiler where the clearcoat is starting to fail. It is about the size of a baseball. Likely, it is an area where previous owners have forgotten to wax. Is there anything I can do about it short of a repaint? Anyway to touch it up or add more clearcoat to it? If not I probably won't be getting it fixed, I just wanted to know as an autopian if there is anything I can do myself to make it look better. Thanks.

Paint cleaner, glaze and paste wax if it's not cracking up already. If it's already cracking just get it repainted.

That's what I figured. However I though I read on here of someone who wetsanded through a failing clearcoat on a spoiler and then covered the basecoat with one of those spray can clearcoats. Maybe I am hallucinating. Either way, I probably won't be taking this action, but I am wondering if the logic behind it is correct.
