Anyone using DIY Detail products?

I`m in a hunt for a new interior detail product and thought I`d branch out past some of the usual players like PBMG products, Griots or Meguiars. In that hunt, I stumbled across DIY Detail and didn`t know anything about them.

Anyone using any of their stuff? How does it compare to others?

What are you talking about, their Interior Clean & Protect? I just can`t take the line seriously because of Yvan doing the shill-of-the-month-club thing.

Are you unsatisfied with "the usual players"?

Ahhh. I don`t follow any detailers on Youtube, so I miss all of that drama. That`s Yvan, formally with CarPro?

Yes, it was the Interior Clean and Protect. I keep our interiors in pretty good shape, so I like a product I can hit an interior with periodically that will offer a little cleaning and lay down a layer of protection and UV resistance.

I`ve used 303, Griots, at least a couple different Maguire`s products, DP`s VLP interior coating, and McKee`s 37. I think there are a couple others in there I`ve forgotten. Of all of them I`ve used the McKee`s 37 the most and it was my favorite, but after coming back to it after using the Griots for a while, it seems to be a bit greasy and hard to remove and also attracts a lot of dust. None of them really blew me away and impressed me enough to keep using them.

I also like to try out new products and product lines, simply for the sake of education and discovery. The only down side is none of this stuff in sold in sample sizes and you might get stuck having to plow through a bottle of a mediocre product.

No, Yvan was with Optimum for a while--he had detail shops and was a big Optimum user, wound up doing training for Optimum, and then got into a product envoy role, I guess when Dr. G was sick, then they had a falling out...and then he has proceeded to take his shtick to a succession of other companies, destroying whatever credibility he had created when he was selling "Optimum synergy", at least for me. (and I don`t "follow any detailers on YouTube")

1Z/Einzett/Nextzett Cockpit Premium seems to be one that people like, I generally use the Meg`s QID. ONRWW would probably make a decent interior detailer, not sure what dilution rate I would use. People also use Opti-Clean (their waterless wash) on interiors. There`s probably a lot of threads about that stuff on the Optimum forum.

DIY products are good. Their interior products works well and smells great. I’ve showcased their products on my channel.

My discount t code is MIKEGDIY. Will save you 10% off at any time.

He approached me years ago at our SEMA booth, looking for a position, was not interested. After leaving Optimum, he went to 3D for a while. Appears he is running out of companies.

I had seen mention of the Nextzett and looked at that one too. Thanks for the reminder!

Good to know. I`ll check out your video. Thanks!

He got “partial ownership”. When he signed on. Don’t know how much though

My point was Mike Phillips was a "managing partner" at AutoForge, which certainly sounds like "partial ownership" to me, and he was gone in 2 months. I would take whatever they are saying about Yvan`s stake with a grain of salt, IMO it`s all marketing mumbo jumbo.

Mike Phillips was not at autoforge that long. Seems like he is jumping around a lot as of lately. Now he is at Dr. Beasley’s. Do they have good products. Thanks

The Guz enjoys using their primer polishes - fine, medium, course. The nice thing about their primer polishes you don`t need to wait for them to cure before you apply the LSP/coating. Labocosmetica`s super fine polish fiero is the same.

Expensive products however. Dr. Beasley`s. Not sure if its across the board but the products i looked at were all on the higher end of the market.

Personally, I`m moving the vast majority of my products over to labocosmetica - a number of my products are up for re-stock. For a DIYer they have some very good concentrated products. Leale their medium polish is just as good as sonax perfect finish. I think it might cut a bit more as well.

I already have primus, purifica, omina, vitreo, semper and leale. All excellent products.

The iron remover looks to be the best on the market if it does what they say it does. And it too is concentrated.

They have a new tire dressing coming out soon that will be my next dressing. And under their manic line they are releasing a new Rinseless wash. Again my next rinseless for sure. (Initially i liked absolute but its not the easiest to dry and it just feels cheap to me - like all the P&S stuff. I prefer DIY between the two.)

The new packaging is some of the coolest packaging I ever seen as well. Which frankly is something i look for in a brand.

Mike left 3D because they sold to a holding company and due to That not working out in the past he left ASAP. Don’t no why it didn’t work at AutoForge, guessing difference of opinions with Bob or Nick. He has always been a fan but f Dr Beasley’s and there owner so thinking it is his last stop.

I’ve been let down by Plasma Coat, advance coat gloss and bead hero. Bead hero may HCW been my fault due to prep.

I like their story and have heard nothing but good things about their Matte products.

Heard good about NSP polishes as well bet seems there is a learning curve with them.

Thought this was interesting.

DIY Detail : r/AutoDetailing (reddit.com)

"Good product line overall with a good blend of contract chemists for formulations.
Turtle Wax - Rinseless wash, incredible suds, ceramic gloss, tire dressing
3D Car Care - Gold Standard Polish (probably Owner`s Pride is identical)
ECP Inc. - 3/5/8 Year Ceramic coatings, interior ceramic, interior clean and protect
Technician`s Choice (ECP Inc.) - Quick Beads (TEC582 concentrate + graphite flakes + DI water)
Generic products - Iron remover (identical to Owner`s Pride DeconX), All Clean (same as Owner`s Pride), Panel Prep (IPA), Water Spot Remover (vinegar), Tree Sap remover (methanol).
The only thing that is worth mentioning is that the iron remover is sodium mercaptoacetate based rather than the more potent ammonium mercaptoacetate. That means a clay towel can be used in combination with their iron remover. Also Yvan is coming out with a professional only C6 coating line which is also made by ECP Inc. (Auto Armor, The Protector, Technician`s Choice, Tornador, etc.)"

"Well if you read the SDS sheet for DIY Quick Beads, the blender ECP Inc. (Technician`s Choice) kind of goofed and left the a small part of the ECP logo in the header. I don`t think we will ever know the dilution ratio with deionized water but you can try different ratios!"

I am still using the Einszett/Nextzett Cockpit Premium product, and it still works great!!!
If the Interior plastic is really dirty, I like their Deep Plastic Cleaner = it works fast, gets it really clean and leaves a nice fragrance that does not linger..
Follow with Cockpit Premium, and there you have it...
Really nice, finished, nice fragrance Interior Plastics..
