Anyone seen this kind of streaking before?

I tried to polish this out and nothing, not even with FG400 an orange pad. Idea's on what this is before I go any further.

Looks typical of a coating applied too heavy and not leveled off, and allowed to dry..
Good luck with this!

Thank you sir! It's coming off as I'm polishing. It wasn't at first but now I jumped to a more aggressive MF pad. It seems to be coming off. I'm getting about 5 Qm difference on the gauge.

No, this is one there, it's taking forever to polish off. in some area's I actually resorted to wetsanding with 3000. This stuff is VERY tough.

Right now the rupe's blue corse pad with FG seems to be working, slowly but it is working and it's safe.

This is definitely a chemical reaction to my wipe down, Car-pro eraser. An it's definitely a coating, once again... this stuff is tough.

No, I'm still at a loss but as a detailer this REALLY makes me worry. This stuff reacted to eraser and not ipa 50/50. The owner is paying the cost of removal but I'm still cutting the price because I feel bad. He had no knowledge the car was coated and the car had no indication that it was. So far I'm basically compounding the car with FG400 and a wool pad with the 3401. It's coming off but it's very tedious.

What ever this stuff is it's very psychically durable but chemically it's very volatile.

I seriously hope this isn't the beginning of a crappy coatings era. I'm definitely going to have a coating removal surcharge for future jobs...

I dont have any experience other than with Optimum and the Pro version looks like that when its too heavily applied...

But, perhaps they all look like that when too heavily applied ?

I guess which ever coating it is, this tells us much about the durability of it, and how much fun we will also have removing..

Can you just polish the marks, etc., out of it or is it too late now for that??

Good luck ! Get the Rotary Power out... :)

I'm seriously about to bust out the rotor, it's in there.

So fun facts for you kids in hopes this will help another in time. I sadly have a feeling with the rise of coatings this will become more prevalent.

1. How thick? about 3 Um
2. Cause? chemical reaction to Car-pro Eraser.
3. Removal? Extreme, Wool with either a 3401 or Rotor. DA's are NOT strong enough or take far too much time.
4. Type of coating? unknown

Dan,

Unfortunately no, I tried the coating is too thin to remove just the discolored area. The whole coating discolors from what I can tell. This means you have to polish it off, and as such in order to look uniform... the whole panel has to be done... this means the whole car has to be done :(
