I saw an article in the paper about a new car wax coming out, I think it was called Ice and they said it was clear and didn't leave any residue in seams or on trim. I can't find the article any more. I threw the pper out I think. Anyone know anything about this? No residue would be great if it's true. Anybody know anything about this? Thanks.

There are a lot of car waxes and sealants that won't stain trim. And if you apply thin coats as you should they won't leave residue in seams.

Hey Turbo, welcome. I'm the second Canadian to respond.
When I first started waxing, I put wax on too thick, and had residue and staining, and even paint streaking. It is a common over-the-counter (OTC) mistake. I'm sure that will be a big OTC sell, but there are lots of good products sponsored by advertisers/supporters of this site, as well as fans. And none of them stain much when used properly, or have residue. Some polishes leave residue though.

I apply wax as thin as I can, so that it is enough to only break the light. I find, of the ones I use, Pinnacle Souveran easiest to apply, then Poorboy's (PB) Natty's, and I seldom apply either too thick. PB's EX/EX-P is very easy to apply, but also easy to put too much. Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax is a harder to use product, but not bad for OTC, and good for older finishes. There is a range there, but used well, all of those will shine, protect, and not cause problems.
