Anyone have experience with a reputable Flex authorized repair shop?

My L5-S1 is killing me!
My 2 year old Flex DA has developed a strange tick every so often, sounds like a small pebble stuck in there. Not a good sound. Also, whether normal or not it heats up pretty good running at 6. Before it dies in the middle of a detail, I'd like to get it looked at. I know how to randomly search for a shop to mail the DA to, but does anyone have any 1st hand experience with a shop they could recommend? I'm in MI if it matters. Thanks.

If it's out of warranty, I usually take it apart and check things out myself before paying someone to do something I can do. About 95% of the time it isn't too tough to figure out.

I just brought mine to the authorized repair shop in new York. Sunrise tool in west islip. From your description, it sounds like your brushes could be worn out though. They are about $10 each (you need 2) and are easy to replace yourself if you have torx bits. You can see the brushes being held against the motor armature with spring clips. They are about .5-.75" long when new. Once you take out the 3 torx bits you will he able to see them.

The only place I've dealt with (a while ago now though) is FLEX – North America, 2720 East Phillips Road, Greer, SC 29650 1-877-331-6103 (Flex Warranty - 888-809-4749)

Here's Robert Eichelberg number his is the President of Flex I think he should steer you in the right direction (402) 933-7759
