Hi guys, Im pretty new here but basically the subject says it all. An AudiWorld member posted this site up and being that Im trying to get into the business I figured I would get involved here. Im trying to read everything I can! Anyway, I have a detailing job on Monday and its been so cold here in NY the hose is frozen...so my question is, what ideas to you guys have to washing the car when its so cold out? I usually just run in and out of the house with buckets but this really doesnt work that well. Well thanks for your help guys and I hope to see you around the forums!

Welcome! QEW seems to be very popular when it's cold as you can do it in a garage. Other people have done a similar thing with 2 or 3 buckets. It's an inconvenience, but you can work through it. Good luck!!!

Luckily it was a nice day for me today. I just finished a coat of TechWax now. It was about 40 today, so nothing frozen for me. I'm glad I snuck this one in on the winter. Now I just need one more decent weekend.

I've had the same problem with the frozen-solid hose and that undeniable urge to wash my car. I simply took the frozen hose inside and put it in the bathtub full of hot water.

A short while later I washed the car wearing latex gloves over a Thinsulate pair, being very careful to stay as dry as possible.

Make sure you dry the car very quickly, and very thoroughly. Doors will freeze shut.

PS. I've really got to get some QEW.

I bring my car down to the u wash place. I dont use the brushes or not,but i actually bring all my detailing stuff. I go at night or during an off day where it isnt busy. The owners know me really well and dont mind at all. Im there for about 2-3 hours and I do a mini detail inside the bay. It is cold, but the wind is kept out and the ground is heated so the water doesnt freeze so it isnt to bad. Yes I get weird looks from traffic, but hey it is also free advertising for me with my work trucks!!
