Anyone Good at Photoshop?

Just One More Coat
I am thinking about having my truck painted...cheap Maco job...the roof is pretty rough and has some starting signs of rust..so I want to nip that before it get to bad.

I have in mind what color combo I want and where...just wanted to see if someone could photoshop that in so that I could get an idea what it would look like

Thanks

Beemer, if you have decided to go the Maaco route that's not necessarily a bad thing. I've seen some decent paint work come from their shops. They tend to get chintzy on the body work and the hours they allow for prep work in their econo services. If you're willing to do a little block sanding and priming on your own and then deliver it to them you might just be surprised at how well it can turn out. I did this with a Big Block Pinto I used to have. I had people tell me all the time what a great paint job I had. I would just smile and say thanks. They would want me to point them to my painter. It was kind of funny because some of these guys knew their stuff.

if you wana paint job, i'd wait and save up to get a nice paint job. You get what you pay for and i would waste money on a cheaper paint job that's not gonna last. JMO!

What's your point? I for one wouldn't waste my money. I'm a very good shopper and get maximum value when I lay down hard earned money. It's taken me years to get to this point. I'm one of those people that has spent many thousands of dollars on both paint jobs and automotive sound systems. I've even traded whole Pony Cars (complete, finished and fast) that most people would love to have for a paint job on a different vehicle. At the time it was fair value (hundreds of hours worth of prep) and I received an excellent paint job on a car worthy of that level of detail. Looking back I should have kept the car.

As I've gotten older I've definitely come to the realization that the last several thousand dollars in either one of those endeavors buys you incrementally smaller gains. If it's not a show car a $10,000 (I use this figuratively) paint job is where the waste of money resides. With respect to paint jobs and sound systems I've found that I can "get by" with less than the best.

I'm sure what you typed isn't what you meant to say. :D

I got some poster paint.... Me & the kids could easily hook ya'p with something this......

:wow::wow:

A few years ago, I purchased the top of the line MAACO paint for my car.
It had rough spots in the paint so I left it another week for them to fix it.
After I picked it up, I saw more rough spots, spots with no paint and then it started rusting.

Coming from a professional painters point of view,

Maaco = The Devil  heh

It mostly comes down to how much money you want to spend, and what your expectations are :stick:

How's this for a quick idea...

Thats just what I had in mind thanks a lot now I want to get it painted..:D

What do you think?

The top part of the truck has the most damage, the bottom half is in real decent shape so that's why I wanted to do just the top end....any other designs you can think of Tony?

Based on the Maacos we have around here they offer multiple grades of painting. Anywhere form the ones you see on TV to the kind you could get at any paint/body shop. My brother in law had it done on an old beater and it looked ok for about a year until the paint started pealing off...they just painted over the existing, no sanding...

Same here there are three levels or qualities..I talked to my neighbor who is a lead painter for a local high end body shop...he said to do a lot of the prep yourself...he would help with making sure it was done right..I also have to look at this is a 1K truck I just want to to the top ends, the roof line that you can see in the pic has some evidence of surface rust starting...so what to take care of that ASAP...If all else fails I will sand that down and do some rattle can applications just to stop the rusting any farther
