anyone getting black tire brushes

Not a big problem but irritating. My tire brushes build up with black greasy substance after so many vehicles. Got a solution? I figure the tire dressing from regular customers or diluted cleaner are to blame. I'm looking to keep costs low in that area. Currently using AM RedHot (3 or 4:1 which works out to about $1.50-$2 a gallon) and Dealer Choice Water based dressing from AM distributor ($10 a gallon in pails). I'm fixing to restock on my general cleaner so if anyone is using something else from AM let me know.

I clean out my Megs tire brush after every tire. Just a quick spray with an APC at 1:1 and a strong spray of water will wash just aobut anything out of the brushes. Just like with our finishes, frequent maintenance keeps them in better shape then big stuff and neglect.

I'm with TUBA on this one....I never cleaned any of my brushes after cleaning while washing.....I have since brought some pretty nice ones brushes and decided to wash after I'm done cleaning the outside of the car.....I spray them down with a degreaser then use the hose on high to wash out...its greatly improved the brushes and how long they last.

Me three! A quick spray between tires, and a wash after all tires are done and the brush doesn't get too bad. Same with buffer pads. A quick spray rinse and they are either all clean, or much easier to clean later.

I may have to keep a heavy cut bottle of degreaser around. I've tried cleaning them in between but guess the degreaser isn't strong enough to clean the build up off.

You must have some crazy stuff on the tires you're cleaning. It's a little strong for weekly use on tires but bleche-white does a nice job of dissolving most of that crap that's on tires, just don't breathe it in.
