Anyone ever have a hard time getting motivated to do a detail?

I need to detail my truck and I just can't get motivated to do it. I guess Because I know I have my work cut out for me and it is hot and humid. I have been using the exuse that I need DACP and no one carries it around here so I have to order it.(I really do need some) I have two other cars I keep up on, and love doing other peoples cars but this truck ........ I don't know?:nixweiss

I am always motivated to do a detail because I don't think of it as 'work' or something that you have to do. Detailing, for me, is a form of relaxation for me.

Now get going! :D

(or get rid of the truck) :o

SOMETIMES it rough getting motivated to wash and wax I agree I try to wash and wax early in the morning when it is cooler out and I have the stamina

It relaxes me as well, and I enjoy it. I guess some has to do with it not as new or nice as my new Mustang. Matter of fact I just decided to go to pepboys and get some 3M products. That is the most abrasive stuff around here I can get w/out ordering.

I always plan my detail the day before. I will do the wheels and interior the evening before. I get up early and when it is cool and wash and wax.

With 3 kids (2 just turned 1), housework, lawncare and a new black van (it did not seem that big when we bought it, but it's big enough when it's time to wash!) I have put off any detailing so far this year. Really need to get it done to both cars though, and soon.

Actually, I don't have a problem with "detailing" motivation. It's getting motivated to do my "real" job that's giving me problems. I'd much rather spend my day on Autopia learning more about the best way to make my car shine!

Got to go now, cuz the boss is coming!

I sure do. I waxed my car at 10:00pm and it was still over 90 degrees outside. So yeah it gets hard to get motivated to do it in that kind of heat. But if you want your car to look good you just have to do it :(

Sometimes I have trouble getting motivated. I enjoy the detailing, but I have to admit, I don't really care to wash the car. After five or so hours making it shine I feel great. But since it's a daily driver, it only gonna last till the next rain.

Some friends left me a new sign in my car last weekend. My friendTom said he and his wife sat in my driveway and looked and looked at my

99 Ford Explorer. Man is that vehicle beautiful they said. Now man that motivates me. I detailed Tom's sisters caddy two weeks ago Ya (Zaino) and she drove her husbands truck so the caddy could stay out of the rain. Doing one mini van has got me 5 other jobs in the same family tree, with 2 more cars to do. one is a red 66 mustang. The money I get also motivates me because I can buy more supplies. Have more coffee, pop or what ever but keep on polihing man.

Detailing or simply making things shine is the most theraputic thing you can do. When I am a little down or in a bad mood I'll get one of the cars or even a friends and give it a little TLC and bam I'm in my happy place.

The friends think I am missing a nut or two but they they sure dont complain.

When I'm out working I have no problem being motivated...

But, for my own truck I have problems. Usually once I start I enjoy it though... it's making myself start though.

I don't have kids, but a acre and a half to cut and trim, two yellow labs to deal with, a wife, and three vehicles, plus my job, its hard to get motivated and find the time.
