Anyone detailed RVs?

I went to a RV show last night and was talking to a salesman from a local RV dealership about my mobile setup. He said that just for a wash the prices start at $100 for a travel trailer and go up from there. He said it takes about an hour to wash a trailer; I'd give myself 2 hours for a Class A. I'm thinking that drying RVs would be a non-issue; I could use a CWB and be done. I thought this might be a nice way to supplement my income while I'm building up my client base for cars. I might even be able to get a few cars too. Most Class A motorhomes also drag some kind of vehicle behind them and there's the P/Us used to tow the travel trailers.

I know RVs aren't cars, but the possibility of higher profit per vehicle cannot be ignored. I also have 2 big RV parks about 15 miles from my house.

I "detailed" my gfs parents RV for them. It wasnt really a detail, it was using a big broom looking brush to wash the top and sides. and useing Armourall to the vinyl. plus interior and stuff. I dont know how much i would charge. i did it for free but they forced a 50$ tip on me, and took me camping in it with them for a week.

I detail some RV's in the summer and fall. I usally do the big class A & big Deisel Pushers. I get some where in the neighborhood of $1000.00 for an average size unit. That includes cleaning & treating the EPDM roof , cleaning and waxing the fiberglass , treating the all windows and shampooing the carpets and fabrics inside. From there it turns in more of a house clean then I true detail. I like to do these for vacation money and big house purchases. It takes me no longer than 2 days to complete one inside and out.

I detail my own 28' travel trailer. What a PITA!!!! It literally takes me two solid days of work!! You would think that those big flat sides would be easy...but Nooooooooo!!!

If I were you guys, either don't do them or charge accordingly!! If it was not my own in the first place, I would not do them!!!:down

I've detailed the exteriors of several RVs and buses, but I really hate doing them. I charge $7.50 per foot for a wash and wax. I've got so much business right now, I don't actively seek out RVs to detail, but if I was just starting out, I would be.

I only do one large vehicle regularly now, a full sized tour bus. The guy has a pressure washer and water de-ionizer at his office, so I don't have to worry about drying it. Takes me 3 hours to wash it and the engine, clean all the windows and dress the tires. I charge him $120 for it. $40 an hour ain't too shabby.

I did once this summer for Ameritel Corporation. We charged $275.00 to wash it and detail the interior. Not bad deal, I didn't actual do it I had an employee do it, as I was in California. We also got a $50.00 tip... not a bad deal for about 6 hrs of work.

Pictures Here If anyone lives around Maryland, DC, NOVA, that RV may look familar, it was on T.V. !

Scottwax- did I under sale our services... it took 6 hrs for 2 people to complete the job. thanks

I had an absolutely horrible experience with an RV, I will never touch them again. I was doing 3 cars for this guy, and he asked me if I would do his RV. I agreed much to my chagrin. I washed it and everything, but he had a massive amounts of tar all over the damn thing. The color was off-white and he told me to use some no-name strong chemical bug and tar remover on it. I told him it would stain his fiberglass. He told me he had used it many times on it before and it never stained. Needless to say, I used it on an inconspicuous area and it stained the fiberglass. I showed him and he was pissed off at me. I finished it and came back the next day because I was doing his last car. I look at the back of the RV and there was a huge 8 x 8 ft square patch that was brown. He didn't believe that it actually stained it, so he went out after I left and tried it again in the middle of the back of the RV. I just smiled, finished up his car, and took my money.
