Anyone added a bigger handle on a wheel woolie?

I really like the wheel woolie but one disadvantage is the small diameter handle and gets slippery when when dealing with soaps and cleaners.

Has anyone tried adding a larger diameter handle or grip to the need to improve the grip?

I wrapped self vulcanizing electrical tape around the handle to give it grip. The tape is a rubbery tape that you stretch to "activate" it then sticks to itself. it has no adhesive but when you stretch it and then wrap it around it will fuse into a solid single piece. it's perfect for this application as it has a rubbery texture and you can build it up to give ridges for finger grips. since it's not adhesive is will not comeoff if in contact with cleaners or chemicals.

I haven't, but you can use athletic tape like they use on baseball bats or tennis rackets. I know a local sports store sells a thick rubberized tape that you wrap on and it feels like a soft rubber handle.

I have used this trick on many items. Over time it will need replaced but for the price it is a great option IMO.

I wear rubber gripper gloves when scrubbing tires and wheels, but you can easily drill out a gripper broom handle and slide the woolie handle inside it and lock it home with a set screw.

A grip wrap is something the manufacturer should offer.

I was thinking the drilling out a handle handle idea. It is especially hard to hold the smaller ones.

Great ideas, the only thing I would want to watch, with a set screw in the handle is where it is, so it doesnt come in contact with the wheels, etc., when cleaning and scratach..

How bout getting or finding a rubber type of handle piece that will go over the shaft like hammers have?

I haven't... I use nitrile gloves when handling mine on wheels and have never had one slip. Of course only been using them for a short while now.

What I am doing though is drilling 1/8" holes in the tops to hang them.

Mr Gloss -- I don't know anyone who uses the handle to clean the wheel, do you?
If I use the larger wheel woolie and push it all the way in as far back as I can to clean a barrel of a wheel, then it would be good to not have any metal objects in the handle that can accidently touch the wheel, like when you push the tool through a real tight area.
