Any non-pros used the Opti-coat 2.0?

Might be why there's not many threads on it ;) Just climbed out of my winter cave and started back onto the detailing sites and noticed it.

Almost ordered it today but then started to doubt my correction ability. Guess I'll see how it comes out and see if I should have done it.

....have I been living under a rock? I didn't know it got released to the public. I will definitely be giving this product some serious consideration. It's not the price but the actual application process I am still unsure of (I wouldn't want to botch it). ....I have some more research/reading to do.

The more I read about it, the less I'm concerned about the application of it. There's a good thread over on the optimum forums about the process. MY big concern now is getting the swirls out enough that I could put it over top of it.

I just got mine and will be giving it a go this weekend.

It appears there is enough for (maybe) two vehicles depending on size.

What this does IMHO is put the wax and sealant folks in the deep weeds.

This stuff is not cheap, though it's not ridiculously expensive either. $60

Take your time to polish your vehicle then apply this is as a permanent coating.

Be sure to polish out all the swirls and scratches out of you paint first!!!

This stuff is optically clear and harder that the factory OEM clear coat.

This is permanent. The only way to remove Opti-coat 2.0 is to polish it off.

I have heard when it's first applied the hardness is 5-6 then after it cures it's a 9.

AGAIN:

Take the effort to polish your paint to a pristine finish first or you will seal in visible scratches.

Between Opti-coat 2.0 and the Megs DA Microfiber system they are both big game changers.

I want to get this for my mothers new car. I wouldn't put it on my own car since i enjoy waxing it. I'm a little concerned about offering it to my usualy customers as it will turn them into wash customers and no longer be wax/detail customers. The good thing is I would get a nice correction/application fee out of it. Not sure which is the right way to go yet!

I have a pontiac G8 which has some pretty soft paint that likes to get rock chips like no ones business. Would this type of product help deter these chips?

How many cars will it do, is it just enough to do one car?

Depends on the size of the car. A mid sized sedan takes about 10cc/ml

It doesn't have to be perfect, but rather just what you can live with. Obviously you can live with what you have on there now or it wouldn't be there.

Just pay a pro to do the prep, but make sure they really remove the swirls and don't use a filler.

No coating will deter rock chips.

Is it just the car's design that causes so many chips. I had like 4 within a few k's of driving and I dont tailgate or anything like that.

It cures hard enough quickly enough that you won't have any problems with dust sticking in the coating like you would with paint.

.....just got my OC 2.0 in my last order of supplies last week. I hope to be able to try it out in the near future.
