I have a set of 3 full size tires + 1 spare that I want to get rid of at a garage sale im having this weekend. Are there any legal issues that could come back to bite me if these tires fail on someone?
I wouldn't worry. Most people realize the garage sale warranty. The summer of 2001, I sold a set of Firestone Wilderness ATs -- YES the ones pulled from my Explorer prior to the major recall. They were quite new, and I think I let all of them go for $10-20. They had been store outside -- under my deck for over 1 year, but new tread. I've sold other tires (usually for a few $$), and have never worried. If you are too worried, make them sign a waiver (then you'll probably never sell them).
yeah relax. There's a place by us called, "Steve's Used Tires." If they can do it, i'm sure you can.
If they do fail and someone comes forward to do something, just deny any sale that you had since it'll be a cash sale and no record would be made. :grinno:
I'm not sure how old they are since I'm cleaning out a lousy tenants stuff. I can post some pics after I get them all cleaned up if anyone would be interested in picking them up (Chicago suburbs) or buying them. You can have them for cheap, I'm trying to get rid of this stuff.
