Another HD Polish Review

Hello all,

After reading quite a few comments and reviews about HD Polish, I decided to order a bottle to see if it lived up to the hype. I will keep this short since I know quite a few people prefer straight to the point reviews and I can be very long winded. All photos and video taken with iPhone 4S. Photos re-sized using Kodak Easyshare software, no enhancements made, and video compressed by Photobucket.

The first vehicle was a black 2008 Ford F-150.

Products:

Griot's 6" Professional ROP - speed 5

5 1/2" Lake Country low profile Tangerine Hydro Tech Pad

IPA/RFEW mix

Here is a picture of the true condition:

And this is after finally dialing in the process:

Some RIDS remained since this was not scheduled for a full correction.

Next documented vehicle was a 2010 Kia Borrego, skillfully detailed by another shop. This detail was only to remove sap balls and holograms, RIDS remained once again.

Products used were same as above.

Before:

After using an aggressive clay bar to remove loads of sap balls (forgot Tar X):

And after HD Polish and BFWD:

Conclusion:

I have used this polish a few other times but haven't documented it. Still waiting to schedule a full correction on a black or dark colored vehicle so that I can follow up D300/LC Ultra Fiber combo and to test as a final polish in place of SF4500. I did a side by side comparison with Chemical Guys V36 and found it to be a close call. CG V36 has longer working time and similar cut, but the finish, gloss, and ease of removal goes to HD Polish. CG V36 was not difficult to remove by any means, but HD Polish is easier in my opinion. This product may very well replace Meguiar's M205 and Menzerna SF4500 (PO85RD) in my arsenal. HD Polish lives up to the hype and proved me wrong, which makes me very happy!

Thanks for reading,

Richard

Nice review Richard. I have not seen a bad review of HD Polish yet. So many people are ditching their go-to's and reaching to this. Even though HD Polish is a "finishing polish" it can fill the shoes of even a mid-range polish as well. Kudos to you for seeing the light.

Thanks! I don't see how this polish could get a bad review, it's working very well. I was under the impression that this was a mid-range polish. I have been using Optimum Hyper Spray Polish for mid-range, but combining HD with the tangerine HT pad I've been getting very similar results.

Thanks! I'll be ordering another quart soon since I split mine with Wills.

Bah Richard, your gonna make me spend more money! Great review man!

Thanks! This one is 100% worth the money, but blame Mike Napoli for sending me a sample.

No problem!

Nice one richard. I agree that I reach for polish in place of 85rd and even M205 at times.

Thanks Troy! 85RD is gone but M205 will remain even though I have been reaching for this a lot. I have a few more scheduled for the remainder of the year that I'll be putting HD to work even more. I'm trying to get something where I can do a comparison between several polishes using the same pad on the same paint.

Great review!!!!!

Thanks! Sorry to take so long to respond.

richard, are you still reaching for this and how are you liking it?

Yes I am, in fact I split a gallon with Mike Napoli. I honestly can't recommend this product enough and I'm so glad 3D/HD proved me wrong! Just an additional note, unless HD Uno works out the way I want, most likely HD Polish on a tangerine hydro tech pad will be my choice for all 1-step gloss enhancement details. With probably 20 of these pads on hand plus 1/2 gallon of HD Polish, you can see how serious I am.

wow, for you to purchase (or split) a gallon is saying something. can't wait to give it a try, thanks for the response... :)

Richard causes a lot of people to spend money. How many Rupes do you think sold after his review? Lol...

Question: Ive been using Polish and a Mf pad or D300 and a mf pad as a 1 step. What makes the tangerine pad a choice for you? I have never used one, but I get a lot of correction and a good polish with the mf pads.

Thanks for the great review!! Did you use the KBM method or the TD (Thomas Dekany) method of just 3 small drops to prime and a drop or so per addtional section?

As much as I wish, I don't have a Rupes at this time. But it is on my birthday list! Honestly when it comes to using the tangerine pad for minor 1 steps vs mf pads, I'm not as tempted to go for full correction! Plus I can't always run my air compressor due to noise levels when working late into the early morning.

I guess more along the lines of Thomas' method? I tried the KBM when I first got the polish and learned very quickly that you can't use a lot of this product or it dusts and gums up. I start with 4-5 small drops, then only use 3 drops per panel and clean the pad often and frequently switch out. It's nothing for me to use 4-6 pads depending on the size of the vehicle. With HD Polish you have to work clean for superior results.

I don't buy very many products by the gallon because I usually don't settle on a product. I'm always trying new things but I can honestly say this one was one of the select few. :)

Wow! Very Nice! I love this shot!!

I need to order this!

Thanks! I honestly don't think you will be disappointed. I've used it with LC tangerine and crimson HT pads as well as LC black, and continue to see just how versatile this polish is.

Haha, OOPS. I had just got out of that thread and your name was in my head when I saw this one and mixed you two up. Pretty much no sensible way to do that, but I did.

Today HD Polish worked on aftermarket paint(Black Ferrari 575) where Menz SF4500/Sonax Perfect Finish came up short. Honestly saved my butt, Dave F was right without the oils that I had to wipe off there was no towel marring................ happiness .......will pick up a quart right away.

Too date, I've yet to come across any paint that Polish couldn't finish down well on. And it is definitely easier to use on really soft paints, where Menzerna takes so much effort to remove that you're taking a step back just by wiping off the residue. It's my favorite finishing polish to date, but has enough bite to make it a good one-step lots of the time.
