An Update....

I'm trying to figure this out...I know that the EF is made with carnuba....I'm really not sure what the Meguiars is made from.....but...is this just a personal decision or are the product uses different...I've seeen on other threads that the Meguiars is more of a show car detailer....while the EF has alot more uses to it.....What I'm looking for is something thats easy to use...and that works really well with some MF towels and doesn't turn a Quik detail into a 2hr job

Hi floni. most quick detailers are made out of water and alcohol; and that's about it.

i've used Megiar's Quik Detailer, Meguiar's Final Inspection, Eimann Fabrik Clear Pearl, One Grand Show-Off, Finish First Finish Fast, Wizards Mist-N-Shine, Mothers Showtime, etc.

My favourite quick detailer with carnauba is One Grand Show-Off.

My favourite quick detailer without caurnaba is Wizards Mist-N-Shine.

I know that Brad B, forum moderator, is enthusiastic about Meguiar's Final Inspections' lubricity. I have not personally notice a substantial difference, but I also haven't used Final Inspection a long while.

Some complain that One Grand Show-Off is a bit difficult to remove, due to it's thicker consistancy; I have not had this problem.

between eimann fabrik and meguiar's, i'd suggest eimann fabrik. it's relatively economical if purchased in gallon jugs. you'll go through it like water.

I've used both EF CP and FI. IMHO, I think that FI provides better lubercation than CP. However the FI does not contain wax and therefore will not rejuvenate your wax layer should you use a wax on your ride. However, CP does produce a nice slick finish after rejuvenatinvg your wax layer.

They are both great QD's, persoanlly I use CP about once a week and FI a few times a week, cuz FI is cheaper than CP.

CP contains carnuba while FI does not as the others have said. If you are using Klasse AIO\SG without a wax topper than you may want to go with FI for QD between layers of SG as some have had trouble with the SG bonding over the carnuba. If you use a wax topper then you could use any of the QDs as desired, it's fun to experiment;)

beau... I'm not aware of any QDs containing alcohol. If they did, they would strip waxes and sealants. To my knowledge, most QDs are an emulsion of water, lubricants, and gloss enhancers. The gloss enhancer can be any number of things, including waxes, diluted polymer sealants, or acrylics.

DavidB,

In the 3M Gloss Enhancer MSDS it lists as ingredients:

WATER................................... 7732-18-5 90.0 - 100 %

ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL....................... 67-63-0 < 0.4 %

0.4% is Hardly enough alcohol to strip waxes and polishes.

I have been wondering where the idea that all Quick Detailers are essentially alcohol and water came from. Thanks for setting the record straight about them containing gloss enhancers, lubricants, diluted polymers and waxes.

I' going to stick with the EF for now....although i do love the smell of the Meguiars...i havent bought the Ef in gallons yet but your right....as for most of their products,....eventually i think everybody starts buying bulk sizes....like with the 303 and EF HD.........thx again.....you guys always take a thread to a different level....:D

I fall in the category of members who like the lubrication properties of the Final Inspection. Use it on some bug debris that has been caught in the South Texas heat for a few hours and you'll realize it then. The Clear Pearl definitely gives you a nicer shine though. Laters.

Both of my cars are Klasse'd, one has a topped (Souveran).

I was using 3M Gloss Enhancer (no wax) on the non-wax topped car, and Cp on the topped one. Ran out of gloss Enhancer, started using the CP on both cars.

I've not experienced any trouble with the KSG bonding. I do, however, wash the car before applying another layer of KSG. I think the small amount of carnauba doesn't hurt, or is removed when the car is washed.

Your actual mileage may vary...

Blue Skies,
Andy

so I know I came on here and gave some love to PAC followed by some venting.

I ended up taking my car to another dealer who not only keeps their specialty vehicles parked inside, but also called me back. Come to find out, the techs could not duplicate the squeaking brakes. All the same, they actually listened to me and talked to Roush - Roush is sending new pads AND rotors covered by the warranty  Hopefully this will do the trick. So that is the good news.

Bad news is that my shine kit comes in today :Gift: and my car will be in the shop until they get the parts delivered and installed.

So this is my little story... thanks for reading.

I didn't see any bad news there, maybe I missed it! Hopefully that does fix your issue and I can understand the frustration with having to wait to clean it up. If it's any consolation you wouldn't want to do a detail before techs get their grimy hands all over it.
