Amount of time between Waxing, Polishing, Preping

What amount of time do you leave to prep, polish, and waxing the paint of your car. I am talking about between sessions ie 3 weeks, etc. I was looking on mothers.com and they said pre-wax cleaner 2 times a year, then polish and wax every 8-12 weeks. I wanted to do this a little more often but wanted to see how often you perform these actions. Also, at what point do you clay your car, and again, how often do you do this. The obvious answer is when it needs it, but i dont really know when to do this-when you can feel harshness on the finish i guess? Finally, how often do you use a Quick Detailer on your car. I was thinking once a week, since I wash pretty much every weekend (or I try to). What do you guys do. Thanks for all the help

Well, you provided your own answer. All these questions are judgement calls. As Dr Phil likes to say, "Don't substitute my judgement for your own".

Its your car so polish and wax and clay and QD as often as you like. For example, to test your paint to see if it needs claying, put your hand in a plastic baggie and lightly rub the paint. If you can feel roughness, its time to clay.

If you haven't done so, click on the "Learn!" pic icon at the top of the page. It will take you to a list of detailing how-to articles that will help you determine what you need to do and how to do it. Once you've got that figured out you can detail whenever the mood hits ya.

Im pretty much in line with what "mom" says.....I generally polish every season, and seal after my polish. I will apply wax toppers about once a month.....ooooooooops, forgot, as for claying, for me thats seasonal as well....
