Amelia Islando 2011 Concours pics

Todd@RUPES

Just a regular guy
I was inspired to post this after looking at Concours.John's amazing pics. I was lucky to have a few automobiles which competed and placed. Amelia Island is considered the Pebble Beach of the East, and my most accounts is the second most important concours show in the US (debatable).

This year I had the pleasure of taking my family to Amelia Island for the concours event. I had two cars that competed, both winning best in class, which was very cool. More importantly I ran into a bunch of clients, friends, and enjoyed the with my family while looking at my favorite cars of all time: Duesenbergs. With out further ado, here are some of the pics I took.

Dale Earnhardt's Monte Carlo Stock car (back when it was Winston Cup and the car's where different).

One of my favorites from the show, a Tucker Torpedo. Those who don't know the story of this car and the man behind it should head to google.

And finally the amazing engine compartment of the Duesenberg SSJ Supercharged. This engine, in the 1930's produced 320 horsepower!!!! At a time when most car's made less than 40 horsepower and a HOTROD Ford V8 was less than 100 horsepower, this car trumped all. It also had a top seed over 150 miles per hour, when the average car of the time might hit 70. It was the Bugatti Veryon of it's time.

Here is the outside of this amazing piece of art (I believe it won best in show)

Thanks for looking

Congratulations on the 2 BIC. There is serious competition there.

Thanks for posting those. Amelia island is a great show.
Unfortunately the last time I was there was 2004.

Great cars are always there. I would like to go there again. Thank you for sharing!

I was there and I go every year. It's absolute euphoria! The super exotics : Bugatti, Duesenbergs, and the like are unreal!! I recall the old Pope Mobile being there this past year. First appearance in America.

Maybe I'll see you around next year. :howdy

Here are my best 10 pics. There were about 13,000 people there this year IIRC, more crowded, less room to take loads and loads of pics. Any way, here you go:
