Hey guys

I was searching on ebay in between my finals and found this dirt cheap RX-7. I wish I could afford it but I can't and I thought that since most of you guys are all car guys that one of you might be interested in it. As far as I can see it looks like it's in excellent condition, however you may want to Carfax it.

Anyways, maybe one of you will be lucky enough to purchase this sweet ride!

EDIT: I did a KBB on it and it rang up a $15,610.

I personally can't believe anyone would let an FD go that cheaply unless the motor was shot...or it was rusting out underneath...

account has been probly been hacked, happens alot

Yeah but he is asking for cash or money order...I would think if it was a scam for $ it would at least be set up for paypal? Maybe I'm wrong

I guess if you were interested and wanted to make sure that they account wasen't hacked and the person actually owned the car, you could ask them to make a sign with there ebay user name on it and stand in front of the car. Unfortunetly scams are all too common on Ebay, but it is still a great site.

It doesn't make sense that he has 136 positive feedbacks and his last 2 are negative from 2 different sellers. Something smells fishy with this auction.

I heard the rotary engine doesn't last long.

You heard wrong. Rotaries are no different than any other motor; besides the fact they don't have cylinders :heelclick

Anyway; problems with these cars are generally the apex-seals; one way to get away from this problem is to ensure proper cooling and cool-down times. I have plenty of friends with these cars, never see a single problem.

I also vote for hacked account. Red flags include sudden change to negative feedback after a perfect record, absurdly cheap price for a cherry car, and requiring pre-approved bidders. Those also aren't recent picture of the car since the grass is green and the seller is in WI.

The rotary engine will treat you as well as you treat it, I have a 93 rx7 and I have rebuilt the engine once due to on EXTREEME! OVERBOOST! aside from that runs like a champ. I know of people with gen 2's that have got 250,000+ with no engine work becuse they did spot on maintaince.

In the end maintaince rules all.

yes really really fishy...if its to good to be true it prob. is...

Yeah looking at it again it seems very fishy. I just couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it so I wanted to post it to see what you guys thought.

Someone made a good point about the grass being green. I just got snow in Chicago so I'm assuming that WI probably got some too. That car is just immaculate though and if it were real someone is going to get an INCREDIBLE deal.

EDIT: Looks like you guys were right, it's not invalid with the follow messege:

Saw that too! I was so close to bidding on it. I emailed the lady and she emailed me back the next day. If it was a scam, whoever it was said it was her husbands who had passed away 3 or 4 months ago. She just wanted to get rid of it before she moved. I just felt very uncomfortable bidding on it (still skeptical), so I emailed her back and said dont wait for me to bid or anything. Told her sorry to hear of your loss....and hang on to that thing...its a beautiful car.
