Hey Everyone.

I'm getting ready to attempt my first exterior detail, but before I do that I'm gonna need some products.

Heres what I had in mind, in this order.

Wash - P21S bodywork conditioning shapmoo
Clay???
polish - Meg's #3 machine polish
SMR - 3m SMR
glaze - Meg's #7 show car glaze
Wax - Meg's #26 paste wax

The truck I will be doing is a black 98 Dodge Ram that has a few scratches, nothing real deep but deffinately noticeable and alot of swirls. Let me know if I'm missing anything or if this is over kill.

My PC just showed up and I'm dying to try it out.

serra,

I think you're plan is good except for the #3 Machine glaze. The #3 is difficult to work properly with a PC....... I suppose it can be done, but it's a bugger! I would replace the #3 with Meguiars DACP, or Poorboys SSR2. Also, I haven't used the new 3M SMR, so I can't comment on it's ability. I do know that DACP, followed by Meguiar's #9, followed by #7, and then #26, is a fantastic combo.

Hope this helps.

That helps alot Boss.

Like I said this is my first attmept so I'm gonna need all the advice I can get. I havent yet placed my order so I think I'll take your advice and switch up the #3 with either the DACP or the poorboys since I have never used the PC before.

Thank for the advice.:D

Make sure you have a good selection of pads for your PC. One or two aggressive pads like the Meguiar's maroon colored pads. A couple of polishing pads like the Meguiar's yellow pads, and a couple finishing pads like the Meguiar's tan pads.

will do.

What pad should I use with each product? I assume that I would use the maroon one with the DACP and the yellow one with the #9 and the tan one with the #7?? Then apply the #26 by hand? Is this correct?
