Hello, all.

I am new at automobile detailing. I figured I would start learning about it after I picked up my new car in December, 2012 (2013 Mercedes Benz E550, Iridium Silver). I have been lurking here for a few months, reading and learning from you wonderful people. What was fun hobby!

Well, off to quick detailing my car.

Many Mahalos and Aloha!

Aloha ! Welcome to AutopiaForums ! There is nothing like a new to you vehicle to inspire one to detail.

Welcome to the gang! That's the same way I got into it as a hobby, When I bought a Jaguar and wanted to keep it looking good.

Dear Keleneki

Welcome!

There are a ton of knowledgeable and accomplished detailers here. There's a lot to learn.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone!

I have learned so much reading the posts on this forum.

I used the Blackfire All Finish Paint Protection on my car, after prepping it with 2 bucket wash method (Meguiar's Gold Wash), clay bar with Meguiar's Quik Detailer and fine clay bar, ... Ron, from Pakshak (what a great guy) told me I could go straight to BFAFPP after checking out my car's paint condition.

I have used Turtle Wax, years ago, to protect my car, so I was very surprised how easily it was to apply and take off the Blackfire. Even more shocked when I saw the reflection and how smooth it felt. Just amazing how things have improved since those days.

Ron suggested that I use Gtechniq G5 on my glass, so I clay bar that as well and then Isopropyl Alcohol mixed with water 50/50 (as I have also read on forums). That G5 stuff is incredible, but I think I might have rubbed it off, or covered it up because I almost daily use different quick detailers that I have (still trying to experience which ones I like best).

Here is an experience I have had since I started this hobby. I mostly detail my car at night in a garage with no door. From the very first time when I was putting Blackfire on my car, moths just flock to my car. I'm a little disappointed because they leave some moth dust, but I also know the exterior of my car is very well protected. :)

I tried to add some pictures of my car, but the manage attachments button below doesn't seem to be working for me using Google Chrome. :(

I will try again one day soon after I receive my order from the store here.

Thanks again, all.

Mahalo!

Terence
