Had a chance to detail a real nice Ford 150 on Tuesday. All my talk has finally taken off. This person has had the vehicle for almost a year and was happy with the look but did not want to go thru another break up in Alaska without any protection. She watned a complete paint detail including paint correction even though she knew that the vehicle was going to be a mess as soon as she arrived home from work. She said, “ Protection is more important in looks.” With that said he is the process and pictures.
Because it was so cold I took the vehicle to a touchless car wash to get the big chunks off the vehicle. When I arrived at the shop to do the vehicle after the car wash here is what I did.
S&W wipedown with Poorboy’s MF towel
Clay bar with S&W as lube
S&W wipedown with plush MF towel
SSR 2.5 with PC and orange 6 in.Propel pad
S&W wipedown
SSR 1 with PC and white 6 in LC polishing pad
S&W wipedown
EX applied by PC and Black 7.5 in. LC finishing pad
S& G wipedown
EX applied by hand with yellow foam applicator buffed with MF towel
S&G final wipedown
It had minor marring but was out of SSR2 so I used SSR2.5 with alight cutting pad instead of a yellow cutting pad both from LC. It seemed to work out well.
Spent a long time doing this truck. A long time friend had recommended me to this gal. Pressure was on for me. I was working in a shop filled with a lot of guys that thought that detailing was kind of silly. I think that I won them over after this detail because they saw the change in the looks of the vehicle thru each process.
The owner was happy. She said, “The truck looks better than new.” I was pleased.
