i do detailing to the extent that i do not restore i just clean and protect due to the lack of confidence and knowledge. but my own car, an 04 black spec-v, well ill try anything. so i used to do the wash and the drying and waxing by towl (oops) befor i knew any better, now i know you all wont believe this, but there are swirls in it. i have the pc (porter cable) 7336 or 2336 wich ever it is and the white pad it come with to do all my waxing, i used it to put the meg's #3 on it and it took off the water marks but the swirls are still there. i know pad isnt strong enough but anyway i hear alot about aio's (all in ones), so long story short, what kind and where can i get an otc (over the counter) aio to do mine and possibly start light restorations on others. sorry no pics but two years with a towl, yea you know.

The "OTC" stipulation makes this a little tricky...if not for that I'd say 1Z's Paint Polish or their MetallicPolishWax.

While Meg's Color-X is designed for hand-use, most such products will work OK by PC. Their #66 is what you're after, but it only comes in gallons IIRC and it isn't exactly OTC unless you go to an autobody/paint supply place, which will also have stuff from companies like 3M and ProWax. Seems like everybody makes an "all in one" product, just gotta find a place that sells something you like. I'd see what the autobody/paint supply places have from Meg's, ProWax, 3M, and DuraGloss for starters.

But get some good pads and MFs, they're well worth the $. And top your work with a wax like Collinite. You can just apply it after the next wash, no need to make it a huge marathon session by doing everything all at once.

Oh, BTW, the Meg's #3 is functionally nonabrasive, that's why it didn't remove the marring.

Duragloss #101 Polish and Cleaner (PC) is probably the best OTC one-step, pro lines not included. You can get it at Napa/Carquest, if you get it make sure to pick up some AquaWax too. Use the PC to buff 101 in with a polishing pad, let the reside haze, than use AquaWax as a QD to remove the excess. Leaves an amazing gloss and shine, best on light colors but it looks pretty good on black too.

ok thanks. also called a retired detailer nearby and he said that meg's #6 was good also. tried it and yes the fine swirls and scratches came out but the SCRATCHES are still there, but thats ok by me looks tons better. so anyway its meg's #6 cleaner wax, why did it do better than mothers cleaner wax, more abrassives? or is it all in my head?

The white pad that came with my PC 7424 is falling apart just from use on buffing the windows, better pads would help quite a bit. I have Sonus pads and really like them a lot, but then again that's all I've ever used and have nothing to compare them to.

The Meg's #6 is their older pro-series cleaner wax, I'd completely forgotten about it. I wasn't even sure they were still making it (they discontinued the paste version, #18).

I'd say the diff between it and the Mother's is just the difference between consumer level and professional products of a similar nature. Can't remember how abrasive #6 is supposed to be, you could always ask Mike Phillips over at MOL.

ok im a little confused now #66 in the decoder ring is a qd.

#66's name is "quick detailer" but that's just because its meant for a quick once-over of a car with a rotary buffer or PC and polishing pad. Its not a QD in the typical sense, it's actually a polish and wax in one.

Color x is amazing for what it is. Will help a little with swirls, more in my experiance then AIO. But it destroys oxidation and makes things POP.

I like the FK AIO , , I think it's the #215 I was impressed on how well it worked on black neglected paint. It's a poish/sealant. As far as OTC product's I'd look at Meguiars and Mothers IMO.

I have some, but have not used yet, Menzerna's Acrylic Jacket. Tropi-Care TC-3 is also very nice. Also, the Werkstatt Prime's should be very nice.
