Aftermarket auto temp display

I have a 2002 Toyota that did not come with, or offer a temp display. I was wondering if anyone knew of a place that sold a decent priced, yet good looking temp display/ probe setup. I had this in my Supercrew and used it alot. Just loved knowing how cold it was outside.

but realized that a standard width mirror is too wide for the sun visors in my truck. They would have to remain either up or down, because they wouldn't clear the mirror. I opted for a little compass/temp unit that I mounted on my console.



I don't know what model of Toyota you have, but be sure to check the width of the mirror before you order anything. That said, I think this Donnelly mirror is one of the nicest out there. The compass and temp are displayed below the mirror, in stead of within it, and they are both always on. It's an auto-dimming mirror too.

I have a Tacoma also...2002. Where did you get the unit you mounted on your console? Also, where did you run the probe to?

I got the $49.99 unit. It has a compass, in/out temp, and displays your battery voltage. It is illuminated and runs off one of the 12V plugs on the dash. The only bad thing about it is the mounting options are limited -- you can really only mount it upright on a level surface. I have a prerunner, so that means I have 2 more cup holders in the console next to the shifter (no 4WD lever). I mounted it here with some adhesive velcro strips.



If I was buying one of these today, I would get the $129.99 compass on the page above. It has a lot of neat features, and it looks like you could mount it under the rear view mirror.



I ran the temp probe out the firewall, and mounted the sensor under the front bumper. I read somewhere that this is where most of the OEM sensors are located. It seems fairly accurate, within a few degrees. I'm judging by bank thermometers, which can be inaccurate, but it's always withing 2-3 degress of these.
