Advice on 2009 Pontiac

Just bought a white 2009 Pontiac G5, it's in good condition, but probably never detailed. I've got it washed and clayed.

I'm using a PC DA with Lake County CCS foam Pads.

I've got the yellow, light orange, and a few other less aggressive pads. I was going to use the orange, but should I go with the yellow or something less aggressive?

I also have Meguiars 105 and 205. Was planning to use the 205 and the 105 in spots as needed.

With these products I already have, is the orange pad and 205 the best combo? I've used the 205/orange on another car a couple of times with very good results.

Thanks

the first point is just how good is the starting paint. 3-4 year garaged maybe fine if left outdoor probably start with orange and 105. i never see people doing parts, its usually one or the other. if the orange is wrong move one pad up or down as needed. 205 is for finishing and is only for minor correction. it would probably be better to do more passes than change polishes. also bright colors show scratches more which would suggest 105. some silver and golds show almost nothing.

I have only rarely seen need for yellow pad.

IMHO start w orange or even white w 205 and see where you are.

Start w least aggressive.

I use 105 with Orange and 205 with white...but as stated above use the most least aggressive method to get the job done.

Exactly.

It is nearly impossible to prescribe a solution over the internet so instead focus on the time tested method of doing a test spot, starting with the least aggressive method first.

Start with M205/White pad and polish a section about 2 x 2 ft. Inspect this section in the direct sun and gauge your results.

If you are not happy with the results, then increase your aggressiveness by switching the pad/polish or both (I usually do both).

Once you find the process that works for your paint, repeat it over the entire car.

As a follow up, I completed the car using the light orange Lake County CCS pad, M205 and spotting a few locations with M105. There are still a couple of defects I'd like to try to improve. I was going to try the yellow pad with the M105. I did all the above work with the PC DA set on about 4.5. Is that a good speed, or too high/low?

When getting more aggressive with the yellow pad, what speed setting should I use and how much pressure should I use?

Thanks!
