Advice about wax for new Volvo

Thanks for your help. I just purchased Pinnacle Wax for my new Volvo S80. I purchased the Paste Glaz kit, recommended for light color cars (my car is moondust metallic). Did I purchase the best product for my car? My manual recommends a carnuba wax, and this is the reason I selected the paste glaz from Pinnacle. Any thoughts? suggestions? recommendations?

Thank you

There really is no such thing as the "best product". Like most things in life, there are good products and bad products.

Pinnacle has a rep for producing top quality products and their Paste Glaz is better than most of the carnauba waxes on the market. Used properly it should leave a fabulous finish on your car. Perhaps the only disadvantage of carnuaba waxes is their lack of durability. 60-90 days is about all you can expect from carnauba protection under even the best of circumstances. If the car is parked outside 24/7 or is not well cared for the durability is even less.

I've used a number of Pinnacle's products and find them to work well. Most everything else you'll read and hear is about personal preference rather that hard facts. Pinnacle is one of the premier brands available so use it as instructed and enjoy the car.

Welcome! :xyxthumbs On my black 740iL I first applied Klasse All In One acrylic sealer/wax. After I removed the AIO, I let the car sit overnight in my garage. The next morning I applied P21S/S100 wax as a topper to the AIO. You also might want to try this with your Pinnacle Paste Glaz.

The idea behind this combo is that if wax topper ever wears out, you still have the AIO as a base coat that is much more durable than most carnauba waxes.

Here is my BMW with the above combo.

Don't be afraid to try any of the synthetic waxes used here either. Even though the manual suggests carnauba, you could use a synthetic sealant if you want more durability than a natural wax can offer. There's not really any such thing as certain waxes being incompatible with certain finishes.... Well, there was that debate about German paint and sealants a while ago, but it hasn't come up in a while.

I think that Klasse All In One as a base is a good choice. It has always gone with European finishes, is easy to use and durable. It is also compatible with Carnaubas. Carnaubas in serious heat burn off in 4-6 weeks. This will give you a little extra measure of protection. Your lighter car should lean to the 6 week side. These top coats are very easy to apply by hand.

Blackfire topped with a Your Pinnacle Paste will also work well. It gives greater depth, and since they are made by the same company, they are compatible. (verified by CMA tech support.)

My view is now leaning towards a sealant base topped with a Carnauba for the best look combined with durability.
