Adapter for dual mode machines?

Has Edge ever considered making a 2000 system adapter for the dual mode machines such as the Makita BO6040 or Festool RO 150?

Plans exist for fabricating your own, but it would be nice to have a factory direct piece that came with a warranty :)

if you could find out what the mating system is (male or female) and what the thread size is (on the PC its 5/16 female) we could make an adapter. We have been experimenting with the Dewalt 443 but the way they attach the plate with 4 screws around a center makes it very hard to mate to and causes excessive vibrations. If these machines have one place to attach to we probably could make an adatper for them.

thanks for clarifing that Aaron.....
i woke up and dream u finally manufactured it ...oh well ;(
By the way aaron what about making a backing plate say five inch to use the edge 6" classic...
man i have the dewalt unit good machine but it doesnt have the diversity as the pc...

The backing plate on the Dewalt is 5.75inch and will fit the Edge Classic 6in pads just fine. I don't think you will need any special plate for them

The Festool uses a single mounting screw in the center of a 6" plate.
I used a Vernier caliper to measure the female @ 1/4". Not sure of the veracity of this measurement , though.
I'll try to get in touch with the Festool distributor I order from (McFeely's) to get exact specs and let y'all know.

OK , I got a reply from McFeely's-Festool concerning the mounting screw.

Verbatim : flats are .660 , dia. is .735 , thread is .310....coarse thread.

Hope this helps.....

I got email directly from Festool today:

"It's metric; you may find a similar item someplace that carries metric
nuts and bolts. It's 8mm diameter, 1.25mm pitch. You get a new one
when you order a new pad. To use another brand pad on the Rotex it must
be the exact size and weight or you will get vibration."

Based on the post from wildboar, I stopped working on an answer because the tool manufacturer has said any other pad and I assume that also means pad system must be perfectly weighted for their machine. The Edge2000 system is already a finished product and would most likely not meet their exact specs. The idea behind the Edge2000 is less vibrations by perfect auto centering. I would not want to have our system creating more vibrations. That being said I did find an interesting post on autopia where a guy in Australia I think made his own custom adapter. Here is the link.

Those are the plans I was referring to in my original post. I very much doubt that the Edge 2000 system would cause any vibration on the Festool if the homemade adapter didn't cause any problems with the Makita.
