Adam’s Polishes … Detail Kit, Review

Included in Kit: 1-16oz bottle detailing spray, 1-12 oz bottle of V.R.T. ( Vinyl, Rubber, & Tire Protectant), 1-12 oz bottle of Revive Polish, 1-12 oz bottle Butter Wax, 2-Microfiber Towels, 2-Microfiber applicators, and 1-Detail Sponge.

Packaging: All products were shipped in a box with a foam insert to protect the bottles. The labels were very professional in appearance and presented a first impression of quality. The instructions were brief yet thorough and to the point.

Pricing: The products are priced in line with other quality products.

The Test Subject: 2000 Pontiac SSEI, Bronzemist Metalic Paint with moderate swirls and some scratches.

The Final Process: Wash, Clay, SSR 2.5 with rotary, Meguiar’s Swirl Free Polish with rotary, Adam’s Revive by hand, PC, and rotary, 2 coats Butter Wax, and 48 hour later QD with Detail Spray. Everything was done in a garage with the temperature between 65 and 72 degrees.

The Reviews:

MF Towel: This towel is a very good value for the price. It is plush and has a fine nap. This is the towel I will use for removing wax, sealant, or Detail Spray. In other words “Reserved for the Fine Work”

MF Applicator: I have not used these before so I tried using it with the wax as well as the polish. It is a nice large size which makes it easy to hold onto but also requires that a little more product be applied to it during use. It did an excellent job of spreading the products and washed up extremely well.

Detail Sponge: This thing is thick so your hands will stay a little cleaner. It worked best for applying VRT to tires and exterior grained trim.

VRT: This produced good results on the dash and door panels after some experimentation. My preference is to know that there is a protectant on my dash, but I do not want to see it. I do not like even a semi-gloss look. To achieve this look with even coverage, I used a moist folded terry cloth … applied a small amount of VRT to it and rubbed it into the dash, door panels, etc. I let it sit about 30 minutes and lightly buffed with a MF towel. This left a satin finish without any greasy feel. I used the Detail sponge to apply VRT to the tires. It left a matt finish with zero sling. It did not make the Goodyear tires as black as I am used to so I did apply a light topping of _&_.
However on Michelin tires it worked much better. This product excels on the grained trim pieces (interior and exterior) it applies very evenly and hopefully will be durable.

Revive: This is an extremely easy to use paint cleaner/polish. It wipes on and off by hand with very little effort. I used it on the rotary buffer as well as the PC, using the Edge 2000 Blue Polishing Pad. Its consistency and lubricity made it equally easy to use on both machines with pretty much the same results. It cleaned the paint and buffed up to a nice clean shine; however it removed only the most minor swirls (the reason for using Meguiar’s Swirl Free Polish before the Revive in the final process). This product does not chemically clean as well as some I have used but it does leave a clear, pure shine and wipes off effortlessly with no dust.

Butter Wax: This product has a rich consistency and pleasing smell. I used about 3 ounces of product to complete the first application. I applied it using a foam applicator, a MF applicator and a Meguiar’s finishing pad on the PC. In all cases I felt it was slightly difficult to apply a thin even coat of product. The best application came from using the PC. Wiping it off was a completely different story … This is the one of the easiest to remove waxes I have used. This wax seems to duplicate the looks of the prep work exactly. Next time I will use a glaze as my final polish for a wetter look on this color. Once again, the wax left a nice clean, clear shine. It actually highlighted the silver flakes in the paint, making the car look lighter in color but with more sparkle. The second coat (applied 24 hours later) looked a little shinier but not much deeper. The depth and wetness came 48 hours later with a quick detail using Adam’s Detail Spray (next review).
I tried Butter wax over UPP on a white T/A, and felt that it actually took away some of the reflectivity, shine and wetness of the paint. “Different color … different product required.” This is an easy to use wax that will give a glow to the paint.

Detail Spray: If a car product could win an Oscar, this one would be it. This is by far the best performing detail spray I have used. I used it on 4 different vehicles and in every case it added gloss, depth and wetness to the finish. It added at 25% more gloss to the SSEI that I applied Butter wax to. On white it adds that extra depth that is difficult to achieve, without sacrificing clarity or reflectivity. I tried it as a waterless wash and it seemed to push the dirt around more than the product I currently use. Detail Spray works very well for dust and light finger prints, but for anything heavier, I will continue to use my current product. After the dirt is gone, going over the vehicle with the Detail Spray only take a few minutes. If you try only one new product this year, make it Adam’s Detail Spray!

Nice review kim and nice work. :bigups I really like the Revive, and had good luck getting out scratches and swirl marks with it. I can't wait to try detail spray.

Kim,

What a review :bigups I'm glad our stuff worked for you, and please keep us updated when you use them again :)

Glad VRT suited your taste; that was one of the defining properties we brought to the table with the invention and reformulation, "let it be versitile". You "can" get a wetter look to it if you apply a little bit more and don't work it in as much, especially with our foam sponge. As for buffing in the end, it dries fairly quickly, so unless you want to matte the look down, there isn't a need.

You probably won't see a big difference in darkness and depth with the lighter color cars you did when using Butter Wax, but try it out on a dark car for sure :bigscream

I'm very glad you liked our Detail Spray!!

Thanks again for taking the time to do a nice one for the Members!!
