Hey guys, I did a search on wash mits but couldnt exactly find what I needed.

I was wondering a few things.

I was washing my car today and when washing it with my new chenelle wash mit from CMA I was wondering something, How many times do you dip it in the wash bucket for each section?

I pretty much used 2 dips for each section-- roof, hood, 1 per bumper and 2 per sides.

BTW: I use the 2 bucket method

So, I also figured, 1 wash mit isnt enough, because I have the "clean" sections and the "dirty" sections. So I figure I am going to need a few more wash mits.

Last,

I got addicted to the MF towel today, I had only ONE to dry my car and it was the big blue towel from CMA online and I completly dried the whole car with it. I just ordered 2 of the big towels from neatitems.com to use the next times I dry my car.

I plan on buying a few more small ones for Quick Detailing and such forth.

Well that was just a long post about nothing.

im neurotic so i dip it like 3-4 times between each time i touch the car with it...i use the 2 bucket with 1 mitt for the lower panels....1 mitt for the top...and a little MF mitt for the real bottom(i had it laying around..lol).....another trik is too use fresh water in the 2nd bucket more often....if u liked the CMA big Mf..why neatitems then...cheaper???

Pretty Much, that and the fact that it has free shipping.

I just ordered 2 of thier big towels cant remember dimensions and 5 15x15 towels, ive gone insane!!! someone set up a proxy on me and black anything that has microfiber in it.

Oh and, as for the 2 bucket method, I dumped out the rinse bucket and refilled it about 4 times during the whole wash, I had an idea though, to run the hose in the rinse bucket the whole time therefore constanly putting new water in it, I know It would waste a ton of water but It was just a suggestion.

unless the bottom of the car is filthy from rain/snow....interesting idea about the continuous hose thingy....definitely wasteful....but so is having a million MF's like we do...:D ..i wonder if the running water would get out more particles than actually emptying it out....or would it just swirl them around alot.... wait til one of the chemist posts an aswer about osmosis...solutes...and filtration actions.... :p

As far as the hose in the rinse bucket goes, I don't think that would be very helpful. The grit goes down to the bottom and the hose in the bucket will not get that grit out. You must dump the bucket and refill it, something I do at least 5 times per wash on my daily-driven car.

I think one of the most important things in washing which is not often mentioned here is proper rinsing. If you spend at least a few minutes rinsing your car with the hose (sorry FLONI :p) on high volume no attachment you can get most of the dirt off of the vehicle.

What I do: I mist the vehicle lightly with a hose attachment just to wet the surface and lube it some then take off the attachment and start at the center of the roof, working my way out. You can actually see the 'V' shaped ridges in water where the car has dirt on it, and when these disappear, you're good to go.

Anyone else obsessively rinse the car?

By the way, I agressively rinse (not "dip") my wash mitt after every 2 passes usually. Unless I'm doing a second wash after the initial first wash, I only do one to two passes per side of the mitt. I then rinse it well and after every couple of panels stick the hose in the mitt.

nobody wastes more water than me dood...check it out...i dont have a hose....i continually fill 5 gallon buckets....for wetting/rinsing my car....a few weeks ago i counted...and i filled and emptied the 5 gal bucket 67 times for wetting and rinsing....thats over 300 gals of water....i pour it on aggresive at first...but i use the most when i rinse with it...i just pour the water so slowly....2-3 timesin each area....until it almost gets all the water off......so dont be sorry....i waste a ehole lot....not too mention the water that keeps coming out of the faucet as i run back and forth to dump the buckets on the car,,,,hehehe:eek:

and im not even counting the 2nd bucket of the 2 bucket...hehe

LOL FLONI

67 times, really? I think you need more buckets! Hmm, shouldn't leave the faucet on all the time though. Now that's dedication...but are you on the first floor?? Sucks if you're running up and down stairs with these buckets, what do the neighbors say?

My neighbors swear I'm crazy b/c I'm "always out there cleaning my car which is never dirty".

Speaking of neighbors... how many of you get sick of them constantly saying "If you polish that thing any more the paint will come right off" or "Another week and you'll have polished all the paint off that thing"?? Drives me nuts.

;)

I don't think my neighbors are quite as bright as yours... they tell me I'm going to wash the paint off of it:rolleyes:.

Oh, and one of my neighbors said, "You know, 'McGuires' is the best stuff you can use."

I just said, "Oh.";)

I wash until the mitt starts losing its soapyness and then re-dip.I also use the two bucket method and have several mitts one for the paint ,one for the underbody paint, one for the frame and wheel wells and one for the wheels and powdercoated stuff.

i dont wash my car in front of my house...too much traffic here...i drive to a nearby deadend street and do it there...there';s a huge Oil company there...they have a bunch of faucets just off their property....its an abandoned area ao no commenst...just people who get lot asking for directions....and giving me that weird look:D ....i love it when they come back about 10 mins later after they got lost again...they girl in the passenger side seat always has a smirk on her face cause you know the guy didnt want to ask me again...but she nade him............. anyway..

so i fiil up the bucket and walk about 10 ft to the car...over and over again.....hehe:up

no nozzle to hook it up to dood...just a pipe like thingy coming out...no threads on it to attach anything....i dont know...it doesnt hurt my back at all...it only takes me about an hr to go thru the whole thing...the pain in the butt is having to go somewhere to wash it...instaed of like you lucky dogs that just open your door and bamm!! your ready to go....:p im so jealous dood....but its not bad...it looks so awesome ftaer i finish...the things we do for our cars....illness...:)

its nice to know you worry about me though....its more like a fire hydrant valve so i measured it last wk and ordered a connection that will make it easy to hook up to a hose...............are ya happy now............:p ...thx though...

I'm gonna laugh when your lady posts for you saying you've been jailed for using a fire hydrant for carwashing:D. Just hope they don't turn off the water or pump chemicals through there!

hehe....its not an actual fire hydrant...besides...there aint nothing around there that could catch on fire................lol.............its all abandoned!!

BTW....the cops usually sit there and eat their lunch while im doin it....they usually think its funny to see me cleaning the door jams etc...the cop always says"nobody can see that part...why you cleaning it"...they get a chuckle outta it....so i guess.....those cops would be the FLONI version of neighbors:p

I use fill one bucket with soap (scratch that I use a foam dispenser to dispense foam onto a mini-mf or mitt) and do one swipe then turn it over for the next 1 or 2. Then I rinse out the mitt with the hose each time. Takes forever but hey, if I'm going to do it. I rinse in one direction then turn the mit around and rinse in the other (some rinse from the inside out).

A few "carwash" terms for the avid enthusiast:

Washographer

Foamology

Dirtatologist

Mittectamy

Cleanoskapy

Anti-dirtpressents

Please excuse the spelling, and see if anyone can add to this list of nonsense :D
