Acura NSX vs. Zaino

1991 NSX – Spring Refresher.

The clock on the NSX is at 90K. I just detailed the car in Nov, so it wasn't too bad all things considered. The burlap car cover didn't help things, but that's another story!!

The owner put on a Comptec exhaust and K&N kit over the winter. The beast sounds and runs even better –the owner stopped by today to show her off. I talked him out of his ride for the evening (LOL).

Process used:

Wash:
-Meg’s NXT * foam gun (nice foam from this soap btw).
-Meg’s Wheel brightener on the rims

Dressing:
-NL on the wells & tires.
-Z9 wipe down on the interior. Z10 dressing will be done in the morning.
-Z6/Z8 on the windows & jams.

Paint:
FPII x 1 on the PC @5.5 using a LC green pad
ZPC x 1 on the cyclo using a finishing pad
Z5 x 1 (Z6 wipe down)
Z2Pro x 1 (Z6 wipe down)

Tomorrow, I’m going to hit the beast with FK PW.

I’ll say this…..

– for a 15+ year old car. Wow. ZERO orange peal, and the paint is in good shape all things considered.

Z is an AMAZING sealer on red paint. Scratch that….Z is amazing on every color. I’ve tried to come up with reasons to NOT use Z, but I just can’t find them.

Here are a few night shots (I’m just finishing up….. for now)

The interior needs some more work J. I was pretty happy with the quick vac & Z9 wipe down.

Now no need to make excuses. 15 years old or not the pictures paint a pretty picture. Shiny is an understatement. NL looks good on the wheels as well.

Would like day light pictures before and after pink wax. At the very least comments on how it looks in your opinion....Please!!

Cannot wait till October to try that cyclo. It is something for me to look forward too!!

Good JOb, and nice car!! for me I never really liked the look of zaino, but when I added a coat of pink wax, bam, best of both worlds. I got the zaino clarity and the pink wax depth and wetness. I still however had the signature zaino pink reflections on my red lol. make sure to post more pics of that machine!

Ha! I noticed that too, but no one else in my family saw it!

Great job on the detail! Man those things ride low, I saw one the other day on the freeway, looked as if it could switch lanes between Semi's.

I just applied another coat of Z2/zfx'd to the NSX and BAM. I don't think PW will add much to the look at this point. It's a jaw dropper! You should give Z another 'test' when the weather warm up. It was 85 here today, and I noticed a difference.

cwcad - October!!! If you're in Alaska THAT LONG, then send me a PM and I'll ship her up to you before then!! I'd go crazy (LOL).

Amazing to think Ayrton Senna had a hand in engineering that car.... so long ago, but it still looks so modern and fresh. There's one in the parking lot at work, and despite it being purple, the body lines still catch my eye every time.

Looks good no matter where it is parked. Would have been nice to be a fly on the wall to hear the conversation of the owner when he first got a view of the finished detail.

Have the wheels been retouched with NL? Or does NL hold the shine that I see. Either way I am impressed. Do not have that product(yet!!!).

Awesome!! Looks way better than the Z on my car lol. I will give it a shot on some other car this spring.

Thanks. The wheels ended up getting NL x 1, turbo-wax tire gel, and then a final wipe down with NL. The car was driven before the pics -this combo held up well on the rubber.

The owner was stunned. He gave me open access to the NSX. The pictures really don't capture the 'glow' that you see in person. Acura put on one he** of a paint job on these cars.

Greg -If you try the Z5/Z2/Z8 combo, I think you'll see a difference on your paint. IMO, Z5 alone doesn't even come close to this combo.

I actually did do Z5/Z2/Z8 on my car. 3 coats each. I didnt like the look on my car, but z5 and z8 on my moms mettalic burgendy jeep is stunning.

Maybe it's the acura paint? The first time I detailed the NSX, I was picking up red on my pads -and couldn't figure it out. Another forum member pointed out that the NSX had a special clear coat 'tinted 3D'. I'm sure that has something to do with the look that you get from this paint.

That is right. The formula red has a tinted clear.
Here is some info about the paint process.

A 27 step painting process!!! That's insane.

I'd hate to see what a re-paint (to the same level as the factory paint) would cost.
