Abrasiveness of s100 cleaner

I just picked up S100 cleaner/polisher and S100 carnuba.

I am curious as to how abrasive S100 cleaner is. How does it compare to say: #9, DACP, Finesse It II etc etc

Also, if I am going to be applying it by hand (no PC), what should I use to apply it?

TIA

S100 SEC is a very mild polish that would be similar to Vanilla Moose and a little bit lighter than #9. Probably more like Meguiars speed glaze. It will take care of some mild imperfections and some light swirling, but it's really intended to be a final polish before wax. I've used it and it does a pretty good job, but I prefer Vanilla Moose as my final polish.:D

Yes, it is a very mild polish. DavidB used a similar product every day for 30 days with no reduction in paint thickness.

That's interesting, and I'd love to read more. Do you have a link?

That's exactly what I was looking for:

"To prove this to be true, I polished a single panel on my car every day for 30 days using P21S Paintwork Cleanser. At the end of the month I could not detect a reduction in paint thickness using an electronic paint thickness meter."

Stupid question here, but after looking at that "article" and seeing the bottle of P21S, is this and S100 the same product? The bottles look identical sans the name.

thanks

As best anybody can tell, the S100/P21S stuff is the same product.

BTW, it's a *lot* milder than #80 Speed Glaze, let alone DAP, FI-II, etc. and IMO even milder than VM (I tested them side-by-side on single stage lacquer). It's truly nothing to worry about.

So basically, if I have a few swirls, I may want to use something a bit stronger, then the S100 and then top it with whatever?

I really only use S100 SEC for the "pop". I can help with very minor swirls (marring) but for me, it's a last step before waxing product. It helps bring out that extra bit of shine.

It's very mild.

Much less than No. 9 .. let alone speed glaze (which technically starts out more abrasive then DACP but breaks down much quicker) or DACP.

You'll need something No. 9 / Swirl Free Polish / 1Z MP to help with swirls.

Nice X Zane, is that yours?

I'll definitely have to check out some VM. Thanks for the recommendation!

It is my girlfriend's, dad's. I've gotten to drive it a few times.

One thing just occurred to me....don't some of the GNs have very early (for GM) clearcoats, really fragile, thin stuff? If that's the case, I'd proceed very carefully, even with stuff like we're discussing. I'm certainly no GN expert (just an admirer), but I thought I remembered something about them having weird b/c paint

GN's came with lacquer paint. Very crappy and prone to checking (if that's a word) and webbing. Mine's a re-paint the end of last year. High dollar one at that and I'm just trying to keep it nice.

Unfortunately I have a car cover that isn't the softest and it seems it causes more damage than good. Although the birds around here are ruthless. Right now just trying to find my right combination of products to keep me happy (by hand) and it's not easy.

ZaneO...hold on to that girl, lol. Sick car. Would love to have one someday esp with only 5k on it. Car will be worth a fortune, but needs to be driven ;)

Once again guys..thanks for all the support and great info
