abrasive levels of 3m perfect it?

hey guys,

did a search earlier and didn't really find the answer to this question.



what are the abrasive levels of perect it I, II, & III

is perfect it I the least and III the most or is it the other way round.

so each one does something completely different.

i thought they were all scratch & swirl removers, just different strengths.

The above reply is correct. The usual 3M polishes are these, listed from most abrasive to least.



PI II Fine Cut Rubbing Compound- moderate abrasives

PI III Machine Glaze - light abrasives

PI I? Swirl Mark Remover - very,very light abrasives
 
What one would be best to remove buffer swirls, Body shop put them in today, I need to remove them by "hand", I was thinking about these two:



Machine Polish

Finishing Glaze



Any hints or tips will be greatly appreciated !

Take it back to the body shop. BUT if you aren't comfortable doing that, get a pc (yep, more money) and use 3M Perfect-It II fine rubbing compound on a polishing pad. Follow this with Meguiar's DACP #83 on another polishing pad and finally Meguiar's Swirl Free Polish # 82 on still another polishing pad. Don't apply wax or sealant for at least 3 months if it is new paint.



This is the process I ended up using to take care of a body shop swirling problem on my black Hemi.
