Hello all. I'm in the market for a power tool to step up my detailing capability and would love some feedback from you folks on how to proceed.

Basically, I would like to get the proper equipment to detail a few cars that my friends and family own. I have a 1967 Camaro (painted in 2007) that I take to weekend car shows along with a friend's 2008 Pontiac G8 and a 2004 Maserati. I am familiar with the basics (claybar, etc.), but have never used a power tool for buffing/polishing/waxing. The paint jobs look good now so I suspect minimal correction is required.

What would be the most appropriate power tool for me to safely and quickly polish and wax those vehicles? After reading through various forums, it looks like the Flex 3401 is preferred over a PC (I'm fine with the Flex budget range).

Any thoughts on pads and treatments would be helpful too. My head is still spinning trying to figure that all out. :)

Thanks guys

I would suggest getting a Flex DA from a reputable detail supplier (AG, DD, DI, etc), a supply of various color LC pads (orange, white, black) and some good polishes (like menzerna SIP/106FF (or similars like Autogeek's Wolfgang TSR/FG) or Meg's 105/205.

These places may create kits especially for you if you ask if they do not the right combo for you. They want to make a sale so ask them.
