A new addition to my family!

A little update on Lucky. He is doing great. He shows no fear, eats like a horse, gets into everything, bites everything and plays with anything that moves. He's glued to me prancing after me from room to room. I ate a tuna sandwich and he went bonkers over the smell. So I opened up my mouth real wide and he stuck his entire head in there to sniff around!

When I am home, he has free roam of the house. The two other cats are still getting used to him. They are totally perplexed. They show signs of fear, anger and curiosity all at once. He pounces on them and chases after them and they hiss back. He gets confused because he wants to play. The cats sniff him, back off, growl a bit (which I discipline) and hang out to watch what he'll do next. They don't run away too much; instead they like to watch him. When he gets a little too close, they'll sound off and he backs away. Sometimes they thump him in the head with a good closed nail swat. It's hysterical; Lucky will raise his paw up and the big cat will do the same. Lucky will throw this feeble punch with his 3 inch leg and the big cat returns with a clobber! What's good is that they are not aggressive as far as biting, attacking, ears pinned back, etc.... It's a work in progress.

Seth,

I got my cat, Boo, the same way... He just showed up one day and became part of the family. I'm not a cat guy, but he's one cool dude, so I let him hang. That was 11 years ago and he's still going strong.

Awesome little guy! Congrats Spilchy!

I can relate to the rescue operation. We found a great little female torty kitten in a parking lot a while pack.

The family that adopted her named her “Ally because the mom said we found her on the streets.

Her son (who helped me catch her and insisted on keeping her after we chased her through the engine bay of his Lancer) and I wanted to call her “Tranny, because that’s where I finally cornered her and grabbed her, on top of my truck’s transmission, while I was wedged underneath it reaching up into the tunnel as she hissed and clawed and bit me. (We’d been chasing her for hours from car to car and by then there was no freaking way I was letting her go. My truck was the only car in the lot I could fit under.)

Once she got home she settled down and became a totally cuddly purring machine. She got along fine with their older cats too.

PC.

Spilchy- I'm glad things are going well with Lucky and your other cats. My experience with our cats is a kitten gets accepted much easier than an adult cat. We have two that have been together as adult cats for at least 10 years now and they still barely tolerate each other.

I admire you for making the right decision to save this kittens life. You are a good person. Thanks.:hifive:

Two things: 1st - great story! that little guy will be your friend for life! and 2nd, BEDO - I have kittens at my house ready for adoption - FREE, come by have a Corona with me and take home some.

Last night was his first night with free range of the home except the basement. He did great. He slept almost the whole night in a nest that I made for him in the corner part of the bed against the wall. He woke me up by swatting my face and biting my chin. I gave him a couple scratches and he went back to bed.

He is doing great with the other cats. One of them is his new buddy. They chase each other everywhere and play hide and seek under the bed. The oldest one likes to watch but not get involved. Everyone is used to each other now. I have pictures that I'll have to post.

One problem that I am having is keeping each generation from getting into the other's food! The kitten steals the older ones food (a kernel at a time) and my fat oldest one wolfs down the kitten's food. I have given up because they don't eat all at once and they find each other's food during the day. They all get a quality Hills Science Diet dry food. But I sneak a couple Tablespoons of wet food for the kitten.

Overall the kitten is a total blast. He's the best. He goes Saturday for his second vaccination.
