Last Friday I finally had my back surgery.
The wound up replacing three disc's plus did some work on my tail bone.
Last 7 days has been a living hell on earth I can not think of words too describe the pain.:passout:
Boy I sure hope I feel better after this is over it has been tuff.
Maybe better detailing days are ahead. :)

I hope the relief you get is totally worth the pain you're going through now. I wish you a speedy recovery. Take those pain meds:bow, and be diligent with the physical therapy. It won't work if you're not consistent with it. Hope you feel better soon and that you can eventually do everything you set your mind to. Good luck man!!

Thanks for checking in, I was worrying how you were doing.

:bigups I hope everything turns out ok, Be careful not to overdo the pain meds.I am sure the pain is unreal but don't get hooked on the meds. Its easy to do in your situation.

I wish you a speedy recovery, and just do what they tell ya.:D

Black Bart, you take it easy. I had friends who had the same surgery, and after it was all over with the healing and physical therapy, they felt wonderful.

Praying for you and Ron both Bart.

I had an anterior discectomy(sp) 8yrs ago.Recovery was slow, but well worth the end result. The pain will pass and once you feel like yourself again you realize you did the best thing for you.

Bart,

You bring back some pretty painful memories. I remember needing to have my dressing changed. I was able to make it into the bathroom for my wife to make the change. As she pulled the bandage off it was like she had uncorked the bottle. They had given me so many fluids in the hospital that my cells were just permeated. I stood in front of the sink holding on to the counter and just bled (kind of a clear bloody fluid) all over the throw rug. She couldn't get the bandage back on a 14 inch incision and I couldn't get back to the bed. Even getting the staples out was a serious situation. The pain is intense, you can't sit and you can't find a comfortable spot to lay. All that said, having the knee changed out the second time was worse. I feel for you brother.

This thread brings back memories of 8 L4-5 back surgeries; the last 2 being anterior and posterior fusion. All I can tell you Bart is that I KNOW the pain you're going through, and the incredible pain you have to go through just to change positions. As for the meds, take them!! That's what they're for, and that's what got me through it. When I had the fusions, I never thought it was going to get better, and then I woke up one morning and had turned the corner. Hope it's the same for you!!!

Ron did you have a discogram? I had a couple of those, and it's one of the most god awful ordeals a person can go through. Good luck with your surgery.......

yea thats what i had done but im up and moving ....barely ... pain meds are all i have to keep me going these days but im looking forward to leaving this dark chapter of my life behind me ... bart let us know how youre doing if you get a minute ..

Just keep on hanging in there, Bart! Take the medication. Don't worry about getting hooked on drugs. Relieve the pain with medication when the pain subsides quit taking medication.

I am sure that there are good times ahead for you. Look forward to new detailing sessions that will be pain free.

Guy's thanks for the words of encouragement.
My operation was different than what has been done in the past I have NO fusion they removed my disc's and replaced then with artificial disc;s
When healed I should be as good as ever this is a new type of surgery
Been 10 days since my surgery and I'm feeling a little better I think another week will Begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Good luck, ad good thoughts. I've got l4-l5, l5-s1 that are bad, not bad enough for surgery, so I can only imagine what pain you were in to make that decision. I hope you're back to a painfree self again.

That sounds promising vs the fusion route. Hopefully, it all works as advertised.

Hope you guys get relief from the pain real soon. Like other here have said, do the PT. It will pay big dividends in the long run.

Hoping you are feeling better. Wow, I didn't know they could replace the disc's like that! How amazing. Wishing you a very quick recovery.:)
