A little help with restoration of a VW truck.

A few months ago my father and i traveled about an hour out of Roanoke to a friends parents house. The parents had just passed away and our friend was trying to liquidate everything in the house and barn. Our friend told us that her dad had an old Truck but we didnt pay any attention to it... until we walked into the barn :cooleek:. At first look we saw a tailgate that was un-dented. It was PERFECT. So we bought it.

Before the purchase of this dime piece we owned an '83. My dad has let it sit outside for the past 6 months so this happened.

Other that that part and a few other little rust spots the car is a great car! We replaced the engine with a 16V GTI engine and put a high performance cam shaft in so it has plent of power :xyxthumbs. My dad wanted to get rid of it so i figured it would be better for me to have an older car as my daily driver then a newer car. So im buying it. I am going to make this thing look awesome. But i have a few questions about restoration,

What kind of glue (or whatever) do you use to attach carpets to the floor (this is once i have a floor :rofl ).

Im thinking about painting it black with a silver stripe... but i might reconsider because of the black factor. :think2

Any help, advice or answers you guys can give me would be AWESOME!!!!

And im not sure if i put this in the right place...

HAHAHAHAHA!! Great minds think alike :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :woohoo:

MAN YOU HAVE A GREAT MEMORY!!!!! How did you remember that?

Yea, i think you are very right. I change my mind sometimes with being economical and being an absolute idiot and go with the craziest thing! My latest crazy thing was asking an insurance agent how much it would cost to insure a ferrari 360 to a 16 year old. :sosad

and thanks for the great advice... too bad i didn't take it 6 months before :aww:. I think for right now the engine thats in it is good (for a 16 year old anyways). It has a GTI engine in it with a high performance cam shaft... only problem is MPG's these day :(. Actually, my father is putting a hydrogen generator on his rabbit truck. We will see if it works. A guy we know did it and gets 15-30 mpg's more then before. I will keep you guys informed about that by the way.
