a few questions

I have taken the plunge and bought a PC, Lake Country pads, and need some help with a few things. My dark blue paint has a good bit of swirls and I have bought SSR1 and SSR2 to remove them. I will most likely be using Gold Class Wax to finish up and was wondering about a polish beforehand. Any suggestions? Also, which pads should be used with the SSR1 and SSR2? The kit I have has orange, white and grey pads.

BTW, this is a great place with a ton of info.......you guys have helped revive my need to detail. :)

depending on the swirls, ssr 2 with orange pad, then ssr1 with white pad & then your gray pad with the wax.

that should do it.

or you could do ssr2 with white pad. ssr1 with white pad, wax with gray pad.

The SSR1 and SSR2 are polishes. If you're referring to a polish/glaze then I like VM (Vanilla Moose by Clearkote). Depending on how bad your swirls are you may need to step up to SSR2.5. You can start out with the SSR2 on the orange pad (the LC orange isn't that harsh of a pad), work small areas at a time (about 2' x 2').... you may need to do this a few times to see if the SSR2 is aggressive enough to get out your swirls, if not then try the same with SSR2.5.

You can use your white pad with the SSR1.

If you're going to apply VM you can use either the white or grey pad (or apply it by hand).

Use the grey pad to apply the wax (or do it by hand).

You will probably want to get some more white & orange pads so you don't cross contaminate them by using different products on the same pad. Also pick up some good MF's for buffing.
