The owner said he had not washed the car in over a year. I believe him. There was a lot of tar and birdbombs on the paint, and so much crap in the interior that I think it actually protected the carpets.

The shot of the coins in the tray are ones that I couldn't physically remove with my hands because a pack of coughdrops melted in there.

Process: (I tried geting rid of some old stuff on this car)

Soaked Entire Car in Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover

Wash w/ NXT

Meguiars Clay

Hi-temp Medium Cut on Orange Cutting Pad, Speed 6

CG WMF on White Polishing Pad, Speed 5

FK1 2180 By Hand

Interior:

Woolite to Clean all Interior Plastics, Vinyls, Leather

Oxiclean on the Carpets, LGCM Extractor

Lexol Leather Conditioer

Armor All Dressing

Didn't take any full shots because I wsent back and did the wheels afterwards. I'll have to take some more pics.

I hate cars like that, they dont turn out perfect no matter how good you are or how much work you have put into them.

Great work none the less!

That owner was not driving a luxury car anymore. Once it gets to that condition it's like driving a dumpster on wheels. Shame too 'cus those are nice vehicles.

The interior shots look very impressive after and as much as you could do with the wheels they look great compared to how they drove up.

As funny as it may sound i like cars like that because thier very nasty condition makes them look so much better when you are done, but it takes a lot of work and sometimes won't turn out the way you hoped. I get the feeling that owners of cars like that don't appreciate all the work it takes it get it looking nice again. Excellent work. Just curious, but how much did you charge for cleaning up a mess like that?

Nice comeback!

Any reason why you didn't reach for Dawn or mix some APC into the wash mix? Even with the big&tar presoak, I've always had good success on vehicles like that mixing in a strong degreaser. Again, great work.

I never thought of it. The TW actually did a great job removing all of that tar on the driver side, but it probably would have just been quicker do use a stronger wash.

Thanks for the kind words. I charged $150, which is about what I would charge for the same car in much better condition but it was a family friend.

What is CG WMF? I could not find it in the acronymn decoder, and didn't see it on the Chemical Guys website.

Chemical Guys Wet Mirror Finish. It is a glaze, much like the EZ Creme Glaze, but with slight protection. I'm not sure how it differs looks wise. I'm only using a sample, and will probably buy the EZCG when the time comes.

Wow - great work. In reference to the old saying, I guess you really CAN polish a turd! :) I would have been embarrassed to bring you a car to work on in that condition. I think I would have had to pry out the gooey coin-mess first.

Nice job buddy! I get ones like that. Im about to do one here in a week or so. Full size 4 door pickup that hasnt been cleaned in about 8 months. The owner has a heavy equipment business so you can just imagine the dirt in this thing. I'll try and get some pics of it.

These kinds of cars are a true test of a detailers skill. But no matter how good you are, when something is badly neglected, sometimes it just cant be fixed to perfection again.
