96 Supra Turbo

By looking at the wheels, how can you tell if they are Chrome, Mag or Aluminum?? I know there are cleaners for "all types" then there are specific cleaners for each type. So if I have Chrome I think I would be better off getting Chrome cleaners specifically than an all purpose cleaner, what do you think?

If your wheels are chrome I would use a mild chrome cleaner on them, your chrome is only a layer, almost like it is painted on, once it starts to flake your screwed and not to mention very very mad.

If they are aluminum I would use something like Never-Dul or Mother's polish. It will take ALOT of arm work and time but they'll have a shine that will put a show car to shame.

Either way you go, layer a few coats of Glaze on the car, it'll protect your shine and keep them clean for a longer period of time.

If the wheels are clear coated aluminum, be very careful in how you treat them. Polishing with the wrong product can remove the clear coat - not what you want to do.

Well chrome will be probably shiny all around and may show spots of rust where you can least clean and protect it.

Clearcoated rims will probably have a few flaws in the clear like runs, dust underneath etc unless you have awesome wheels.

Plain aluminum wheels kinda turn a chalky over time if not cared for.

Not sure if this helps but it may.

i've been using 50/50 EF Hi-Int. Wash & Water on my Chrome Rims after many positive reviews online -- rinse the rim, spray on, let it sit for 20-30 seconds, agitate, then rinse...

is this a no - no???? :nixweiss

It should be perfectly fine, I believe. Completely safe.

Get them real clean and use your favorite sealant on them, and furture cleaning will be a breeze with just car wash and sponge or brush........

Ya, I agree. I use Klasse and it makes my wheels a lot easier to clean. Also, I used Eagle One Mag-Chrome-Aluminum Polish once for some tough spots that have been imbedded for years, and it came right out. It's good stuff!

Chris and I were contacted to correct this 96 Supra in preperation for an upcoming show.

The car has 50k miles, and is owned by the original owner.

When we arrived, the car was pretty clean, but we took some pics prior to doing an ONR wash:

We then moved to the interior. The shells of the seats were carbon fiber, and needed correction.

Absolutely awesome work guys. This is the guy with the IS-F, right? If so, he has great taste in cars. Two of Toyota's finest!

Car looks great!

In the picture where he is throwing out the gang sighn(j/k) what is the green towel in his hand?

Chris and I are in our mid 30's and have no life. We seem to always try to do that stupid sign in a picture in just about every detail...lol.

Regarding the towel, I *think* it is one of the shamrock towels. I have had them for a looooong time, and my only complaint is they seem to lint badly.
