94 Maxima

Mad iX

No detail for you!!!
Paint was in bad shape. 11 years old with lots of stone chips, swirls and oxidation. Didn't polish either bumper as paint was peeling. Weather was good, about 70 degrees and lots of sunshine.

Tried SSR3 and 2.5 but decided not to continue with them in the end.

Optimum compound still doesn't seem to have much cut which was good as I didn't want to risk removing too much paint.

1Z Paint Polish is quite different to anything I've used before. It's got some light abrasives and polishes the paint down to a nice finish. Had to apply it in small patches (1.5' x 1.5') at a time as it dried out very quickly and would just turn to dust once the buffer touched it.

Wanted to go with #2685 but no time, so it was nice to have a product like OCW to go with.

Process:

Wash (mix of Megs GC and PB wash, very nice.)

Clay while the car is still wet, with QD for extra lube

Wetsanded a fair bit of the hood and passenger door.

Optimum Compound w/ sonus sfx-1 pad @ 1200-1400rpm with rotary

1ZPP w/ polishing pad with random orbital

OCW

Final touch-up with FK1 #425 on paint and glass

Interior entirely treated by owner with simple green 20:1

303 on trim

EO Leather treatment and Pinnacle leather conditioner on seats

PB BnB on tyres and PB wheel sealant on wheels

PB Trim Restorer on exterior trim

I had a black 93 maxima that I needed to get rid of b/c it had too many problems.

But i LOVED that car and I still miss it to this very day.

Yours looks great! I enjoyed the photos even more b/c it brings back memories.

Don't ever let it go. the new maximas are too hulkingly big compared to the third gen maximas.

Keep up the good work!

Looks awesome! It looks like the U.S. version is almost identical to the Australian version. The only difference I can tell is the grille. And the steering wheel is on the wrong side. ;)

I bet the owner was very happy with those results. I hope you're enjoying summer down there!

Summer's great. Being able to wash the car after coming home from work is nice. Just gets too dark in winter, as most of you are experiencing now.

Found a few more pics on the other memory card:
