93 FD RX7 with LS6 swap

My wife has a 2001 Xterra that I would like to soften the ride on.I do not know a whole lot about suspensions and was wandering if any of you guy and gals could help me out a little.Would shocks alone help alot?I went to a couple of Xterra sites but they all seem to argue to much and I did not want to post on a site like that.Any help, advice would be great:up Thanks

Shocks and springs will be most effective but I don't think the changes will be dramatic. The Xterra just wasn't designed to give a smooth ride. I had an Infiniti QX4 and the ride difference between the two was significant. Maybe look into what shocks and spring rates are used in that truck and copy them.

hi there. having same difficulties about the suspension. i guess need to learn how to check suspension. hope i would be able to fix this one.

I've always loved these cars and when they're matched up with a Chevy LS1, LS2, LS6...or basically any LS motor, they become monsters. Awesome weight distribution, excellent power, very balanced and very fast! I've done a few of these and it was fun doing another. A lot of work has gone into this one, and only thing it needed was a hood that will clear the massive intake. On to the paint... It was dull and lifeless, as well as heavily contaminated (took 3 hours to clay). A one step correction was requested and after trying out several combos, the best one was PCXP with LC Tangerine and M205. Removed all the oxidation and nearly all swirls. While not a full correction, it came out very nicely. Onto the pics!

Hood cutout taped off to keep engine bay dry. Owner didn't want the engine wet at all

If you look closely, you can see the filter covered up to keep it dry.

Hard to capture the defects on white, but here is the 50/50 shot. As you can see, some RIDS remain since this is just a 1 step correction.

LSP was Meguiars #16. Absolutely awesome stuff if you can find it!

Took it outside for some water beading shots :)

After drying the car, the wheel lips were polished and entire wheel surface was sealed with Opti-Seal x2. Made the wheels much shinier and brighter. Here are the final pics as the sun was setting. Hard to get the sun tho as it was a heavy overcast day.

Thanks for looking!

Great job again Jeff. The car looks a million times better now. I gotta say, that I LOVE those wheels. They make the car look so much hotter.

Also, try giving Collinite 845IW a try the next time you do a white car. That is my go to lsp for white.

I can dig it! I have a white FD that I need to post up that I did a while back. Forgot all about it!

Good job man

Awesome! White on white FD with Work Meisters and an LSX? Winning!

Great job on the detail, looks great!

Thanks CH.Detailing!

Thanks Barry! Yeah the wheels compliment the car nicely. Why do you like Collinite 845 for white? I like the durability of it, but find it difficult to remove, even applied thinly with the PC.

Thanks Eric! I think yours will be much nicer since I'm willing to bet it was more than a 1 step ;)

Jeff,
I have used 845IW on every white car I have done, and it really makes the white pop. I actually find the removal of 845IW very easy. I am surprised to hear that you have had problems with it.
Here is a white C300 that I finished with 845.

How do you typically apply it and remove it?

I shake the bejesus out of it until it is the consistency of water. Then I apply it very thin, using a foam hand applicator. I do two panels at a time and then wipe off the first one. Then I apply to another and wipe off the second pannel. I follow this until it is complete and have never had any trouble with removal. I use a Euro Shag MF for removal.

I swear by this for white.

Car looks great! Good job sir.

I'm surprised you actually like M16 so much, I have never had good luck with applying it thin and removing it easily.
