93 FD RX7 with LS6 swap - cleaned up by Immaculate Reflections

I've always loved these cars and when they're matched up with a Chevy LS1, LS2, LS6...or basically any LS motor, they become monsters. Awesome weight distribution, excellent power, very balanced and very fast! I've done a few of these and it was fun doing another. A lot of work has gone into this one, and only thing it needed was a hood that will clear the massive intake. On to the paint... It was dull and lifeless, as well as heavily contaminated (took 3 hours to clay). A one step correction was requested and after trying out several combos, the best one was PCXP with LC Tangerine and M205. Removed all the oxidation and nearly all swirls. While not a full correction, it came out very nicely. Onto the pics!

Hood cutout taped off to keep engine bay dry. Owner didn't want the engine wet at all

Just looking plain and lifeless

Hard to capture the defects on white, but here is the 50/50 shot. As you can see, some RIDS remain since this is just a 1 step correction.

LSP was Meguiars #16. Absolutely awesome stuff if you can find it!

Took it outside for some water beading shots :)

After drying the car, the wheel lips were polished and entire wheel surface was sealed with Opti-Seal x2. Made the wheels much shinier and brighter. Here are the final pics as the sun was setting. Hard to get the sun tho as it was a heavy overcast day.

Thanks! The LS6 is a Corvette Z06 motor from years 2001-2004. This one is piping out about 450rwhp I think. A lot in a little car like that.

Megs 16 was discontinued some time ago and can be hard to find.

Nice turn around, definitely more glossy! Very cool car, they did a nice job with the body work/accents etc. I actually kind like the port on the hood.

last i checked pakshak.com has them megs #16 on clearance.

Great work as always Jeff, but man you gotta post an engine pic with a bad *** car like that. :D

you did nice work on it and i like the all white theme exterior the owner did, but i disagree about the LS crate motor being a good fit for an FD. i dont understand why people throw in american motors into miatas and rx7s. first of all the stock 1.3 can easily make 450hp while being half the weight and like 6 inches lower center of gravity. also if i WERE to yank that awesome twinturbo dual rotary, id replace it with a tri rotor :)

i guess im just not a big fan of inefficient large displacement motors. anything over 5 liters in a car is ridiculous. and if its that large and not making 600+hp then its a shame. a viper is the best example of a waste of metal. ill take a turbo straight 6 over a 8 liter OHV anyday.

Obviously different strokes for different folks, but aside from that, the cost is much more efficient. Rotary engines are really expensive. Not to mention the V8 sounds so much nicer.
