63 corvette aftermarket audio system

I'm in the process of re-wiring my 63 corvette. Last year I had an Alpine unit installed in the glovebox. The guy that installed it hooked it directly to the battery. That worked fine as long as I remembered to turn it off when I turned off the car. This maybe a stupid question, but does Alpine or anyone else make an adapter that will connect directly from the alpine unit to the factory connection on my new wiring harness??

He hooked it up wrong. It should shut off when you turn off the igntion. There are 3 main wires for a head unit. Constant power to the battery, ignition, and ground. He probably didn't correctly hook up the ignition wire.

You need to get a wiring harness adapter for a 63 corvette, and then wire your Alpine harness to the loose ends.

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't able to navigate the autodomain site to well. Tyhe site had some great rides, but I couldn't find any info to help with my problem.

there isn't going to be a wiring harness for your vette. it's too old. what you need to do is go to the ignition harness. find the constant and the accessory wires, and connect the alpine accordingly. (red to acc, yellow to constant)

Wow, that installer must have been confused when there were only 14 wires, not 400 (like in a current car). Doesn't sound like much of an installer to me.
