done deal. kudos to best buy. at NO CHARGE tv was delivered this morning. unboxed/set up/removal of old set.

guess i got way back technology wise. WOW. did not know what i was missing! picture could not be better. one quick call to direct tv, and the HD channels are up and running. 50" was perfect. for $499, i was told i got a good deal. with winter knocking, guess it was time for the upgrade....

I'm thinking of doing the same thing, but by 35" RCA (circa 1994) won't die. also, it weighs like a zillion pounds, so I am not motivated to lift or move it, nor can I see myself just throwing it out because it works fine.

Any pics?

That's awesome man, I'm proud of you!

:bigups wow. football never looked better. no regrets at all!! other than the $ (lol). added a dvd player we had (like new) and surge protector over the weekend. the old tv stand worked out great. there is that "new car smell" well it was that "new tv smell" all weekend. :rofl

picked up some monster brand screen cleaner for it also. comes with a MF towel.

Congrats! I'm hoping to join the new tv club on Thanksgiving weekend when the big sales are going on. Somewhere a thief is enjoying my old 42" LCD, I've been watching a little 25" old tube tv since January and every time I go to any store with tv's I realize how horrible the resolution is on my little tv.

that was the plan. to run the toshiba till it died. got 8+ years out it. i think it should have lasted a bit longer. i did like that tv! good picture for a tube and no HD. it had dvd/vhs bulit in. it did weigh a ton! thats why i was glad best buy removed it! :rofl anything 50" and over they will deliever/unbox/setup/program remote/remove old set all for FREE.

got to say tho, after watching the new set this weekend, i cant believe what i was missing! technology is great. it just costs $$.

I bought a 52" LG about 5 months ago. It's been a great TV, only time will tell if it will last like its predecessor. I bought one with Smart Technology and this has been really nice. It's great on 3D movies like Avatar, Alice in Wonderland and such. I don't like watching 3D in the theaters it gives me a headache but watching one on this TV doesn't bother me at all. It also turns 2D movies into 3D and is quite acceptable. The best part for me has been the WiFi/WiDi feature. Anything I have on my laptop can be viewed on the TV. My daughter plays college basketball and her school broadcasts games that can be picked up on the Internet. It's great to watch her on a large screen. I would definitely do this again.

I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine.
